Excess renewable energy produced by sources with a
high variation output (e.g. wind turbines) is used for
hydrogen generation through water electrolysis.
H2+CO2 (e.g. from biogas) are turned into methane which is
injected into the gas grid as “synthetic natural gas”(SNG).
Hydrogen for Energy Storage– P2G
There is a new way to store energy within grids with a
great percentage of renewable energy:
it’s called “power to gas”
This gas can be stored and distributed through the existing
infrastructure.
The mutual convertibility of electricity and gas enebles a
smoothing of the electrical supply.
