Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time 2
“Pastor’s Weekend Message”
“Amen, I say to you: Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you will receive, and it shall be given to you, says the Lord” Mark 11:23-24 “To Forgive Injuries” is one of the last “Spiritual Works of Mercy” that our Parish prays and meditates this week. Forgiveness is a divine action. It is always difficult for all of us to forgive. For this very reason, we need God’s help. It is in God’s abundant mercy that we learn to forgive. We give of our very selves and we forgive. We ‘let go and let God’. The very act of forgiving says that it is not so much about the “other” but about our very self that forgives or let’s go of our ego, hurts, resentments, old wounds and misunderstandings. We forgive those who have injured us because we follow the example of Jesus’ prayer in the “Our Father”: ‘and forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass again us...’. Let us be united in praying for one another during these last days of celebrating the “Year of Mercy”. Receive many graces and blessings this month. Trust that God is with “His” people. For our part, let us “forgive all injuries”.
Fr. Juan
Juan
Vessels of mercy A prayer for the Year of Mercy
God of Mercy, As you have forgiven us So you send us forth To bear your message of mercy to all.
Give us willing feet and gentle hands. Bless us with listening ears and searching eyes. Endow us with understanding minds.
Ordain us with compassionate hearts. In our acts and in our words Make us vessels of your mercy To reach out to the broken on behalf of the Father who wipes away our debts As lovingly as he wipes away our tears And calls his children home.
Help us lift your people in body and spirit. And so make every year a year of mercy.
Amen.
