Capers In The Capital
The Corvettes of Canberra Club invite you all to ‘Capers in The Capital’, the 27th National Corvette Convention, Easter 2015. We are most fortunate to have Corvette Clinic as our Major Sponsor and will have the pleasure of viewing their first RHD C7 Vette.
The Club’s enthusiastic Convention Committee has worked very hard to put together a ‘Grand’ Weekend. Saturday’s Show ‘n Shine will have the iconic Old Parliament House as the backdrop. I am also particularly looking forward to Saturday night’s dinner at another of Canberra’s iconic sites, the Australian War Memorial, seated under the wings of the renowned WWII Lancaster Bomber, ‘G for George’. This will be a truly unique dining experience.
On Sunday the Club will be supporting one of our rural communities with a cruise to Temora and the Temora Aviation Museum.
Our Club are looking forward to welcoming you all to the 2015 Nationals and to the Nation’s Capital. I’m sure it will be a memorable event.
Club President
Terry Ruse

The Australian War Memorial’s magnificent heritage building is situated beneath picturesque Mt Ainslie. The Memorial is one of the world’s great museums and renowned for its extensive collection of art, relics, photographs, film and sound commemorating the sacrifice of Australians at war.
Join us on Saturday night in ANZAC Hall for a truly unique and exciting dining experience, seated under the wings of the renowned WWII Lancaster bomber ‘G for George’ . ‘George’ is of significance to Australian military history, having been flown in Britain by No. 460 Squadron RAAF, and also for being regarded as a most ‘lucky’ aircraft, having returned from 89 missions over Europe.
How often can you have a dining experience where you can wine and dine among historic items, authentic objects and great works of art depicting Australia’s military history, while surrounded by larger war relics, such as ‘George’, a midget submarine, and rare First World War aircraft.
Watch an amazing depiction of WWI aerial combat and see a daring Bomber Command raid involving ‘G for George’.
Also, take the opportunity for a ‘behind the scenes’ guided tour of the War Memorial.

Sunday Programme
Temora CruiseIn keeping with the theme of fast things and roaring engines; on Sunday we have organised a visit to Temora, about 2 hours down the Hume, and the Temora Aviation Museum. The museum has a large range of aircraft, including Australia’s only two flying Spitfires. There will be some aerial activity occurring on the day and Skydive Temora also operates at the airport (please organise with the company in advance).
Lunch is at the local Rural Museum, featuring delicious local produce. Take the time to stroll around the museum.
Alternatively, for those who sleep-in after Saturday night’s awesome dinner, the club will organise an informal cruise around the hidden delights of the Nation’s Capital. It will include view spots around the city, such as the recently opened National Arboretum, winery visit, pub lunch, and ice cream stop by the lake.
Trophy Presentation Dinner
Rather than Saturday night, the Show & Shine Trophy’s will be presented to the winners as part of Sunday’s Dinner. This is considered a better option as there will be so many activities at the War Memorial Dinner, there really won’t be time on Saturday night.
