Take classes in A+ (programming), multimedia, web page design, networking, intro to info technology. Earn a cord to wear at graduation. Art Club- (Mrs. Chalmers- MChalmers@tooeleschools.org, Mr. Wilcox-CWilcox@tooeleschools.org, and Mrs. Potter- FPotter@tooeleschools.org) Help design logos, enter contests, create murals and scenery for plays and participate in school activities like the Winter Tree Festival and services projects. Baby Buffs- (Ms. Henwood- NHenwood@tooeleschools.org) -Child Care class (a real preschool). Students must take child development as a prerequisite. *Band- (Ms. Syra- MSyra@tooeleschools.org) Marching band meets in the summer to practice. Jazz band meets during the year. Other band members take band as a class during the school day. Participate in competitions. *Baseball- (Mr. Beer- CBeer@tooeleschools.org) Baseball is a spring sport (with tryouts in late February/ early March), but we are playing year-round. We participate in summer and fall baseball leagues, as well as spend time in the weight room conditioning for the upcoming season. Open gyms begin in early January. *Basketball-(men’s- Mr. Johnson – JJohnson@tooeleschools.org) , (women’s- Mr. Goss- RGoss@tooeleschools.org) Try outs are in November. Times are TBA. Buffalog/ school newspaper- (Mr. Peacock- RPeacock@tooeleschools.org) Prerequisite is Journalism I. Tryouts are in the spring.

Buff TV- (Mr. Peacock- RPeacock@tooeleschools.org) Prerequisite is Introduction to Broadcasting. Buff TV is a TV news program produced by student during the TV Broadcasting class. *Chamber Strings (Mr. Watts- AWatts@tooeleschools.org) -Chamber Strings: for students who play string instruments. Club performs and competes. *Cheerleading- (Ms. Haskell- KAskell@tooeleschools.org & Mrs. Gygi – Jgygi@tooeleschools.org) The cheerleading team supports the school by increasing spirit. We cheer at football, volleyball, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, and time events for the swimming team. We also compete at regional and national competitions from Dec. - April. Tryouts are held in the spring. Cheerleaders are enrolled in the cheerleading class on purple days. *Choir- (Mr. Vanderwerken- TVanderwerken@tooeleschools.org)- Students can enroll in Men’s or Women’s chorus. Intermediate (Honors) and Advanced (Show) Choir require try-outs. *Cross Country- (Mr. J Lundgreen)- JLundgreen@tooeleschools.org We run a 3.1 mile course. Fastest times (top 7 boys and top 7 girls) run varsity; everyone else runs JV; anyone can move up to varsity. We have a close team where everyone that runs is accepted and cheered on. Fall sport. *Dance Company - (Mrs. Reed- KReed@tooeleschools.org) This is a performing modern dance company that performs at least once a month. Members attend many workshops and festivals throughout the year. Try outs are in the spring. Debate/Speech- (Mr. J. Lundgreen- JLundgreen@tooeleschools.org) To join take the class and attend competitions. You can participate even if you don’t take the class. Minimum 2.0 GPA. Diploma enrichments- Earn a cord to wear at graduation. Several categories are offered. See Diploma Enrichment booklet & department chairs.

Drama Club- (Mr. Henrie- SHenrie@tooeleschools.org) The Drama Club is for anyone who wants to be involved with performing in theatre, whether on stage or behind the scenes. There is a $20.00 fee to join. We meet once a week on Mondays after school in room 201. Once a term we have a review called Too Much Talent. FBLA– (Ms. Warby- AWarby@tooeleschools.org & Ms. Jackson – GJackson@tooeleschools.org & Mr. Nielsen – LNielsen@tooeleschools.org) Future Business Leaders of America. We go on business tours, have business owners speak to us in meetings, compete in various aspects of business including public speaking, English, business math, economics, entrepreneurship, etc. Anyone is welcome to join. Come learn how to own your own business. We also help with service projects such as the Business Expo, the Santa Parade, and the Easter Egg hunt among others. FCCLA- (Ms. Henwood- NHenwood@tooeleschools.org , Mrs. Smith- MSmith@tooeleschools.org and Mrs. Warner- KWarner@tooeleschools.org) (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) is a club associated with the FACS classes. We focus on student leadership, community service, and compete in STAR Events at Area and State Conventions. We are the only club that focuses on the family and the community to better our surroundings. FFA- (Mr. Gowans- RGowans@tooeleschools.org, Mr. Champneys- CChampneys@tooeleschools.org, Ms. Shields- JShields@tooeleschools.org) FFA is a premier leadership and Carreer organization, that has over 300,000 dollars of scholarship awarded annually. All FFA members are eligble for State and National Competitions. All members have to have one ag class each year they are involved with FFA. *Football- (Mr. Brady- KBrady@tooeleschools.org)- Summer lifting starts in June and goes through the first of August. Practices start the second week of August. French Club- (Ms. Christensen- CChristensen@tooeleschools.org) Bonjour! Do you like France? Do you like the language? How about those yummy little snails? Did you ever want to know what those girls are singing in Moulin Rouge? Well, this might tickle your fancy. German Club- (Mr. Lebrenz-MLebrenz@tooeleschools.org) Weekly meetings and lots of activities, including: Homecoming events, Christmas party, visit German restaurants, occasional guest speakers, cultural fairs, and more. This club is for anyone with an interest in German language and/or culture. *Golf- (Mr. Christensen-BChristensen@tooeleschools.org) Tryout required. Guitar Club (Mr. Spencer- RSpencer@tooeleschools.org) – All those interested in guitar music, equipment, theory, technique in a variety of playing styles and musical tastes Anyone is invited there may be numerous levels of skill. The Herd – (Mrs. Haskell - KAskell@tooeleschools.org & Mrs. Gygi – JGygi@tooeleschools.org) The Herd is a student spirit club focused on supporting the athletic programs at THS. Meetings are held once or twice a month as determined by the club officers. Herd members attend all home football and basketball games and sit in the student section. Enrollment is open to all THS students. Club fee is $15. Honors program- (Mrs. Jones-Miller- SJones@tooeleschools.org) Must apply freshman year or by midterm of first term of sophomore year. See Honors booklet for more information. HOPE Squad (Mrs. Bolin – MBolin@tooeleschools.org) Hope Squad is an organization that supports students. The main focus is preventing suicide and self-harm. Apply in person with Mrs. Bolin in the Counseling Office. HOSA- (Mr. Spencer- RSpencer@tooeleschools.org) (Health Students will gain experience in the health science area participating in leadership skills, competition with their peers, and service projects.

Interact Club –(Ms. Dalton- DDalton@tooeleschools.org) Tooele County Interact Club is a service club that is mainly known for an annual trip to Mexico to build a house for an impoverished family. The club is not school sponsored and includes students from THS, GHS and SHS. Key Club- (Ms. Jaskowick- AJaskowick@tooeleschools.org) Key Club is an international service organization sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Membership looks good on applications for scholarships. Key Club is a leadership and service-oriented club open to all students. Majestix- (Ms. Tomboc- kaycee.lynn2010@gmail.com) Majestix is a color guard team that spins flags, rifles, sabres, dances and performs with the band for six months. The other six months we have our own competitions called Winterguard.

MESA- (Mr. Cox- Coxmic@tooeleschools.org) This club participates in math, engineering and science activities, and runs in conjunction with the Science Club. Mock Trial- (Mr. Ciervo – PCiervo@tooeleschools.org) Mock Trial is a club where students will perform the role of attorneys and witness in either a civil or criminal case. Cost $10.00. See advisor in November.

National Honor Society- (Mr. P Lundgreen – PLundgreen@tooeleschools.org ) Sophomore, junior or senior students can apply if they have a 3.6 GPA. We do service projects throughout the year, such as helping the Chamber of Commerce with the Business Expo, the Santa Parade, and the Easter Egg Hunt.

*Orchestra- (Mr. Watts- AWatts@tooeleschools.org) for students who play string instruments - must enroll in class. Performs and competes. Students who do not play a string instrument, or who play but need to improve, may work with the elementary classes as beginning orchestra students.

Lundgreen- JLundgreen@tooeleschools.org Psychology club meets 1 to 2 times a month. We have fun participating in service projects around the school, tie dying tee shirts, talking with people in the field of psychology and attending Psych day at the “U” in the spring. We have lots of parties along the way!!! Rodeo Club- (Mr. Gowans- RGowans@tooeleschools.org, Mr. Champneys- CChampneys@tooeleschools.org, Ms. Shields- JShields@tooeleschools.org) Not a “school sponsored” club, members do not all attend Tooele High. ROTC – (Mr. Sneed– RSneed@tooeleschools.org) STAR-ROTC is a full year elective course; its primary focus is on leadership and decision making skills. STAR is a military science course. The STAR-ROTC program DOES NOT commit any individual to military service. Physical activity and training will be part of the program. Students will also be involved in fieldtrips and community services activities. The course is open to all students in grades 9-12. School Plays- (Mr. Henrie- SHenrie@tooeleschools.org) Several plays/musicals are put on throughout the year. Auditions are open to all students. Science Club- (Mr. Cox- Coxmic@tooeleschools.org) Quick-can you make and/or destroy energy? Is Bill Nye your hero? Do you often want to understand how everything works? Do you like Science? Check this club out. Science Fair- (Mr. Cox- Coxmic@tooeleschools.org) *ShaRonns- (Mrs. Dixon– NDixon@tooeleschools.org ) Drill team. Tryouts in the spring. Skills USA- (Mr. Shinkle- BShinkle@tooeleschools.org, & Mr. Cody Valdez- CValdez@tooeleschools.org) This is the largest career and tech organization in the USA. This

club provides leadership opportunities and skills development in the professional trades. All competitions are scholarship and job oriented, and are in various fields including photography, auto, drafting and construction. *Soccer- (men’s- Mr. Duggan- sduggan@tooeleschools.org) women’s- Ms. Alvarez- ralvarez@tooeleschools.org) - women’s tryouts in August (fall sport) and men’s tryouts in February (spring sport). *Softball- (Ms.Lowry- MLowry@tooeleschools.org) Spring tryouts. Spanish Club- (Mr. Lopez- ALopez@tooeleschools.org) We focus on leadership, service, and Latino interests with the idea that members can support each other with staying in school, succeeding and eventually graduating from high school. You must participate in after school practices. Team Buffalo- (Mrs. Ford Rford@tooeleschools.org) Team Buffalo is a club that builds friendships between students with disabilities and Peer Tutors. Team Buffalo participates in after school activities, festival of trees, date nights, etc. We are also in charge of the Mr. and Miss Amazing pageant for people with disabilities. Join Peer Tutor and our club and change lives. *Tennis- (boys – Mr. Nielsen LNielsen@tooeleschools.org) (girl’s – Mr. Ciervo PCiervo@tooeleschools.org) Girls Tennis is a fall sport, Boys Tennis is played in the Spring. All grades are welcome. Practice is every day after school. Tryouts are in August for girls and February for boys. Walk-ons are welcome anytime. Title VII Indian Education- (Ms. Halladay - KHalladay@tooeleschools.org ) This is for students with Native American heritage. Come and have fun learning Native American culture. Receive help with school assignments and college information. *Track and Field- (men’s Mr Bowser -KBowser@tooeleschools.org - Every athlete is acknowledged for their personal best. At the end of the season at the banquet we get awarded funny awards along with serious awards. No cuts- everyone is welcome at Spring Tryout.

Tooele Sign Pride (TSP)- (Mr. Montgomery- GMontgomery@tooeleschools.org) Our purpose is to increase opportunities for ASL students to practice American Sign Language in settings outside the classroom; to host fun events (i.e., ASL concerts, Festival of Trees) and trips relevant to students wishing to learn about ASL.

*Volleyball- (Ms. Brown- KBrown@tooeleschools.org) Fall sport. Tryouts are usually the 2nd week of August. Practice is every day after school. We have 4 teams: Freshman, Sophomores, JV, and Varsity. Open gyms begin in the spring and we will have camps in the summer to prepare for the season. Water Polo- (Mr. Philpot) spring tryouts. Not a school sponsored sport. This is a club sport, team members are not all THS students. *Wrestling- (Mr. Valdez- CValdez@tooeleschools.org) Anyone interested can participate. Tryouts in November. Yearbook- (Mr. Cody Valdez- CValdez@tooeleschools.org) Do you want to create lasting memories for every student at Tooele High? Do you love taking photos? Do you love scrapbooking and layout design? Do you love having leadership positions? Come and help create the Yearbook for the students of Tooele High. Signups are late winter/early spring. *Z motion- (Ms. Reed - KReed@tooeleschools.org) We are a ballroom performing group, and we strive to have a performance/ competition at least once a month.
