The Humane Society strives to prevent cruelty to animals and promote responsible pet ownership.

Purpose

Nonprofit organization established in 1938

Strives to put itself out of business

7,000 animals annually Includes dogs, cats, birds,

ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc…

Cruelty Investigations

Nearly 700 cases yearly

Two full-time cruelty officers

Almost all cases are reported by caring citizens

Pet Adoptions

Must fill out and sign a contract

Pay a fee that includes spay/neutering, license, and a small adoption donation

State law requires all adopted animals be spayed/neutered

In The News

Took in 3,724 cats and kittens last year

Estimated 300 presently in shelter

Zero cages for incoming cats
