CURATORIAL STATEMENT

The group exhibition I take it all back, aims to expose the instances between vulnerability and security, so often presented as an underlying dialogue within the works of the exhibiting artists. Curated by Maaike Bakker and Jayne Crawshay-Hall, I take it all back attempts to mediate the madness, yet also provide a space for it to exist.

The exhibition explores a gallery space that embodies the norms and boundaries, and the liminal space in between. This threshold becomes the breathing space, the contemplation of the dialogue that has been exposed within the constructed space. I take it all back filters the rela-tionship between the chaos and the more considered version thereof. The show explores aspects of shame, vulnerability, excess and embar-rassment. It justifies the freedom and honesty that comes with not holding anything back – negotiating a sense of transparency. The exhibition alludes therefore, to the ambiguous and the risky, and plots a relationship between the space and the viewer.
