Filtration
The solution is concentrated by heating/evaporation. Then the pigment is marked on the paper as shown above and place it in a beaker of ethanol (solvent) with a cover. After the solvent runs up the paper to the solvent front, take the paper out for drying. Several spots at different levels would be observed on the paper. This method is called paper chromatography.
