BRIEF 1EDITORIAL IMAGE

BRIEF: Produce 3 editorial images that compliment each of the given articles.

AUDIENCE: guardian weekend readers.

The audience need to know the theme of each article (immune systems, how facebook effects relationships and how our perception of numbers is skewed) The images will give the audience a visual summary of the content of the article, it acts as a stepping stone so they are encouraged to read further. The images will need to be directly related to theme of each article, and be visually engaging. 1

IDEA 1

Initially used this design - though when I printed it the colours looked awful - they were really bright and garish. It looked quite good on the black and white copy though - the gradient in the background was much more apparent - tried to emphasise this more in the next developments.

IDEA 2

Wanted to try a hand rendered approach to my second idea - thought the added textures and line qualities would help communicate the number confusion.

Tried all sorts of textures - just to see whether they would give the numbers a more interesting visual quality. Didn’t really work as expected - didn’t work with the theme.
