Current challenge – extending parameter lists

Registry –

DS Soil requires defining parameter names for attribute data by extending codes of external codelists (e.g. INSPIRE Registry at JRC)

German codelist registry at GDI-DE not yet supports this

JRC maybe with EU-wide agreement between domain experts

Full harmonization of data across German federal state boundaries

• legal data provision requirements

• themes: grain size fractions (soil texture), organic carbon and carbonate content, coarse fragment share, erodibility, cation exchange capacity (nutrient retention, filter function), plant available and total water capacity within 100 cm soil, water permeability (water drainage)

• using the range type for including semi-quantitative classes instead of class names

• chemical parameters are used with (simple) land use classes• using the same part of the data model, the same classes, the

same portrayal

Wrap up

• German Soil Map – Geometries legends done / profiles coming soon

• Data model is suitable for this kind of data• INSPIRE is a motivation to fully harmonize data across

federal state boundaries

• Implementation will need some more time• It is too early to think about data model simplification

• (Too) simple data models make data provision complex and reduce data quality decrease use of data
