Few Things to note:Stop grabbing so many paper towels

and then throwing unused ones in the trash

Do not put loads of paint on the lids and then wash it all down the sinks- use the paint cups!

Do not leave paper towels on the sink area, they can get in the sink and clog it

Put the lids back on the paint containers at the end of class!

Artist Manet Monet Renoir Degas

Subjects

Updated Old Masters themes, painted contemporary scenes with a hard edge

Landscapes, waterfront scenes, series on a field of poppies, cliffs, haystacks, poplars, Rouen Cathedral. His late work: near abstract water lilies.

Voluptuous, peach skinned female nudes, café society, children, flowers

Portraits of human figure in stop action pose; ballerinas, horse races, café society, laundresses, circuses. Late work: nudes bathing.

Colors

Dark patches against light, used black as accent; early work was somber. Late work: colorful

Sunny hues, pure primary colors dabbed side by side (shadows were complimentary colors dabbed side by side).

Rich red, primary colors, detested black- used blue instead.

Gaudy hues side by side for vibrancy. Early work soft pastels; late work broad smears of acid-colored pastels.

Style

Simplified forms with minimal modeling. Flat color patches outlined in black.

Dissolved form of subject into light and atmosphere, soft edges, classic Impressionist look.

Early work was quick brushstrokes, blurred figures blended into hazy background. Late work was more classical style, solidly formed nudes.

Offbeat angles with figures cropped at edge of canvas, asymmetrical composition with void at center.
