ABSTRACT
Submit a separate page of approximately 150 words, summarizing the article in 3
sections: Background and Objectives, Methods and Materials, Results and/or Conclusions.
KEYWORDS
TEXT
Manuscripts may be organized in a manner that best suits the specific goals of the article,
but should always include an introductory section, the body of the article, and a
conclusion, as outlined in these guidelines:• Preliminary Discussion--a discussion of the relevance and historical
development of the study conducted, system or technique presented.
• Indications and Contraindications —for the system or technique.• Body —a description of the study, system, or technique, using case reports,
figures, tables, drawings, charts and graphs to illustrate.

• Discussion —pertinent observations, contrasting alternate systems; a
projection of how the results of the study, the methods or the techniqueswill evolve and influence the profession in the future.
• Conclusion —a brief condensation of the most prominent observations
arising from the body of the manuscript.
REFERENCES
For a feature article, submit a minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 references, typed on a
separate sheet at the end of the manuscript, numbered consecutively as they are cited
in the text (by numerical superscripts). The author(s) of the manuscript are responsiblefor the accuracy and completeness of the references. List all authors when there are for
or fewer; when there are five or more, list the first three, then use “et al.” The examples
for reference in journals, books, and chapters/sections in books are provided below:
1. Ellis E 3d, Ghali GE, Lag screw fixation of mandibular angle fractures. JOral Maxillofac Surg 1991;49(3):234-243.
2. Spiessl B, New Concepts in Maxillofacial Bone Surgery. Berlin,
Germany: Springer-Verlag 1976

FIGURES (SLIDES/IMAGES/DRAWINGS/DIAGRAMS, ETC)
Images must include preoperative, procedural, and postoperative views. Number the
images/figures on the frame in sequential numerical order in which they appear in the
text, using Arabic numerals (ie, Figure 1). Indicate the top of the slide with an arrow;check the orientation to avoid “flipovers”. Radiographs/x-rays are accepted. Charts and
graphs are accepted in image format. Rough sketches will be professionally redrawn by a
medical illustrator—at no charge to the author—and sent to the author for approval. For full-face views of patients, submit patient permission forms or indicate crop marks.
LEGENDS
Submit a 2 line legend for each illustration, typewritten on a separate sheet. Legends
should be numbered correctly to correspond with the appropriate image/figure and withcitation in the text (image/legend/text).
