JRNL: What is itJournal Retention and Needs Listing for print serials

The Journal Retention and Needs Listing (JRNL) is program that:◦Allows libraries to expose lists of print journals for which they have made retention commitments;

◦ Express needs (or gaps) in their holdings; and◦ Communicate offers to fill the gaps in other participating libraries’ holdings.

JRNL: Why?Developed to fulfill a need for this type of software

If not UF/ASERL, then dictated by some other group

With the focus on print serial retention, it is a timely and important tool

• Subject headings field added

• OCLC number to identify journals (over 400 titles in Scholars Trust without ISSN numbers) 

• Considering changes in gap identification and filling
