For Freedom’s sake
With Independence Day being celebrated this month there will be much talk
of freedom, and rightly so. We are blessed to live in a country that has at its
foundation the mission to uphold, protect, and promote the freedoms of
those born in the image of God, our Constitution calls them inalienable
rights. The government does not grant these rights, because they are rights
given at birth, but a good government recognizes and defends these God-
given rights.
God-given freedom doesn’t mean someone is free to do anything they
please; rather it means, one is free to do that which God has created them
to do – to love Him and to love one another. When our country or communi-
ty uses freedom unlawfully, meaning against the expressed will of God, then
we have abused the gift of freedom and have twisted it to use it for our own
selfish purposes. Freedoms that our country often champions are not a god-
ly use of liberty but actually becomes the conscious and willful abuse of our
freedom and the rights of others. Abortion is a graphic example of the
abuse of freedom and the robbing of the inalienable rights of another.
Paul writes to the Christians at Galatia, “For
freedom Christ has set you free.” Freedom
from what? Freedom from having to live under
the law of God and to perfectly keep it in order
to please Him and to have life. Christians
are set free as God’s people to live life here
upon the earth as freed men and women.
Free to do what? Free to do whatever liber-
ated people long to do – to live life free from
condemnation, free from having to live look-
ing over your shoulder, free from being
judged, to live to enjoy the gifts of God,
freely.
Freedom this side of Eden doesn’t come at
no-charge; it’s not free. Free to us maybe,
but at a great cost to others. Our country’s
freedom was won at the cost of many lives.
Our Christian freedom was won by the cost
of the life of God’s own son, our Lord Jesus
Christ. Through the shedding of his blood,
we have forgiveness, life, and freedom from

A Note from the Principal
Family Dine Out Night
July Newslet ter Volume 2 , Issue 7 Page 2
Summer is a great time to recharge our
"batteries". Maybe to start some new habits. Plan a time to read your Bible
everyday. Set a family reading time where all devices are turned off for a few
minutes and everyone reads. If you trav-el, study history and geography together.
School is empty right now, but we are
working on plans for the new school year. We will be focusing on our accreditation

any and all condemnation. In Christ, we are free to live as God’s people. Paul continues in
Galatians, “do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve
one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “you shall love your neighbor as
yourself.”
My dear friends, you are free. Free to live in this country, free to fight for this country,
free to fight to protect the inalienable rights of our citizens. Let us use our freedoms to
love one another, to protect and preserve those who are not able to fight for their own
rights. Let us live as free men and women in Christ, no longer under the harsh task mas-
ter of the law, but as freed people of God. For freedom Christ has set us free; let’s em-
brace and boldly live in that costly freedom. Let us live to love. In the name of Jesus,
Amen.

self-study (Western Association of
Schools and Colleges and National Lu-theran School's Accreditation). We will
also be implementing a new iPad based assessment program, which will give us
information to help us measure student progress and program effectiveness
better. We are also excited to be wel-coming Sarah Salazar onto our elemen-
tary staff teaching kindergarten. Sarah has been around Prince of Peace for a
while, helping out in preschool and sub-stitute teaching. A new lunch program
is also being offered next year. You can help our school! Pray for our
teachers and for more students to come
here to be educated. Share with people you meet about our school. It is a great
place for children! Blessings,
