Location and Background
Country in Eastern Africa
Bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Sudan.
Major cities are Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu.
Lifestyle
A long time ago people didn’t like western type of clothes so they wore traditional clothes.
However, now people wear western clothes, eg jeans.
Most houses are made of concrete/cement. In the countryside, most are made of mud. In the United States, no matter where you are, almost all houses are made of wood.
The media is becoming more international.On TV, there are foreign shows; and more and
more international radio stations are opening.
There are more types of foods in Kenya than there were years ago.

There are 43 tribes in Kenya, each with their different languages.
Common language groups include:1. Bantu
2. Cushites
3. Nilotes
Different tribes have different manners of dressing, different foods, and different traditions.
School system
There are 3 levels of school:1. Primary school
2. Secondary school
3. University
Curriculum very different from America
English (British) is now taught in every school.
Transportation
Public transportation is the main means of transport. Buses are the most popular vehicles in Kenya.
We have ferries at the coast, and airports for those who wish to travel by air.
Trains are now dangerous to travel in because they are very crowded. The best trains are really expensive.
