NAMES OF CONMERCIAL AND EXPERIMENTAL AGRICULTURAL PESTICIDES
Keeping abreast o£ the ever changing list and nomenclature of agriculturalchemicals is no easy chore. New chemicals are continually being added tothe list and older chemicals are continually being given new names. Howmany times have you been reading a publication extolling the virtues of(e.g.) dioofol for mite ^ntrol not knowing that dioofol was the acceptedcommon name for Kelthan^
It is hoped that the following alphabetical listing of common names, tradenames, and trademarks of selected agricultural chemicals will help to dis¬pel some of this confusion. Names listed in italics are common names ac¬cepted by the Entomological Society of America. Also listed are trade names, trademarks and other names commonly used in reference to agricultural pesti¬cides. This list was adapted from the Bulletin of the Entomological Societyof America, Volume 15, No. 2. For more detailed information regardingstructure, etc., of specific compounds reference should be made to the abovementioned publication.
It must be remembered that many agricultural chemical formulations and dis¬tributors have their own registered state labels and brand names. Such brandnames may not correspond to the names in this list. However, the chemicalas listed in the tables of active ingredients should correspond with thislist. Although a chemical may be sold under several different names, theactive ingredient remains the same; however, the concentration and formulationmay be different. Always consult the label to be certain that the chemicalin question is formulated and labeled for the job you have in mind.
