This Teaching Portfolio serves two purposes: The first is to demonstrate to others
how I approach teaching. The second purpose is personal, I use this portfolio and the
reflections in it to guide me as I modify and adapt my teaching methods throughout my
career. This portfolio includes my Teaching Philosophy as well as how I have applied
that philosophy to my teaching experiences and my professional development. I include
artifacts, self assessments and other evidence of my growth as a teacher.
I start my portfolio with my Teaching Philosophy because this is my overall
statement on effective instruction --- my beliefs on teaching and how I implement them.
The portfolio continues with evidence of teaching and learning, "Teaching Experience"
and "Professional Development" respectively. These two sections include a summary
table for quick reference. The portfolio ends with a reflection on what I have learned and
what goals I am working towards.
This Teaching Portfolio shows both my capabilities as an instructor as well as
the areas where I can improve. I am currently finishing a research focused PhD where I
have had to actively seek out teaching experiences. I have been able to find nurturing
mentors, meaningful teaching opportunities, and enlightening professional development
experiences. I understand, however, that I will always be able to improve and adapt my
teaching methods and that I will need to continue to document and reflect on my
pedagogical development

I believe that education is an individual, unique experience for every student who
enters a classroom. In order for children to benefit from what schools offer, I think that
teachers must fully understand the importance of their job. First, I believe that teachers
must consider teaching to be a lifestyle, not a mere forty-hour-a-week job, because a
teacher's goals for his/her students encompass much more than relaying out-of-context
facts to passive students. As professionals entrusted with the education of young minds,

1st week
I started my OJT as a student teacher on December 4, 2014, I feel blessed knowing that
my cooperating teacher is not strict as what I had expected. After introducing the
subject which is Caregiving, she asked me to observe the class first because at this
time all of the students who are assigned to her were doing their activities called Bed
Making.
2nd week
During this week, my CT asked me to prepare a lesson plan and asked me to handle
/teach the students. My first day in teaching is unforgettable, I feel nervous while
discussing in front of my students. After teaching, my CT check the lesson plan I had
prepared and unfortunately, there are a lot of comment and suggestions she wanted me
to follow, the lesson plan I had prepared is different to her lesson plan thats why I
asked a hard copy to her as a guide in making a lesson plan. Aside from teaching, I also
need to grade the performance of the students while doing their classroom activities.
This week is a torture week for me, my CT asked me to prepare a unit test for students
and aside from that, she also asked me to prepare a Periodical Test because for the 3rd
grading.
3rd week
At this week, I and my students are all busy because of their 3rd grading exams; this will
be their last week because next week is their Christmas vacation thats why they had to
finish their exams first. Aside from doing exams, my CT told me to make a TOS for the
exam.

4th week
After two weeks vacation, back to school again, my CT ask me to prepare their grades
for third grading and it is very tiring specially having a lot of students. After passing the
grades to my CT, I started to tackle another lesson to my students about Basic Nutrition.
At this time, I feel comfortable already teaching to them.
5th week
At this week I discuss another topic to my students about positioning client in a bed,
aside from discussion, I am also doing a short demonstration on how to assist the client
in the bed. Students are enjoying especially when I asked them to perform an activity
with regards to our topic. Some of them wanted to feel like a client thats why they had
to tell their classmates to choose them as their patient.
6th week
What I did for this week with my students is graded recitation and classroom activities. I
also asked them to make a reflection with regards to the last two topics that I have been
discussed and told them to write down what they have learned.
7th week
This is the first week of February; I am preparing another new lesson to my students
about personal care. I asked them to copy first the whole lesson. While they are
copying, my CT asks me to check the students project which is the tissue holder.
8th week
What I did for this week is full of discussion. I tackled to them the personal care and how
to take care of the client. Every after discussion, I am also giving a short quiz to them to
evaluate if they have learned something.

9th week
I am so busy for this week, aside from preparing visual aids; I am also thinking what I
will use in my final demonstration. Next week will be my final demo and I really feel
nervous about it. I am very thankful to my CT because she helps me choose my topic in
demo.
10th week
This is it! February 23, 2015 was my demo and I am so blessed because my students
are very supportive. During my demonstration, they are very active and participative.
They help me especially when it comes in question and answer portion. I am also
thankful to my CT for supporting during my demonstration.
11th week
After my demonstration, back to normal again. For this week, I am preparing a
questions about the topics that I already discussed that serves as their recitation and
review because next week will be their 4th periodical exam. My CT also asks me to
distribute their project and their payment as well.
12th week
This week was their 4th periodical test and after the exam, I asked the students to check
their test paper. After the exam, my CT asks me to finalize the grades most especially to
the 4th year students.

V. DESCRIPTION
OF THE SITE OF
PRACTICE

In the early seventies, the growing number of people in the GSIS La Mesa Homeowners
Association (GLAMEHA) triggered the need for a high school in Lagro Subdivision. The
officers of GLAMEHA requested fervently for an establishment of a high school next to
Lagro Elementary School. With the aid of the city government and the education
bureau, Novaliches High School with Mr. Florencio Dumlao as principal started
accepting students. This high school annex started on June 13, 1974 with 87 students
and a facility, which were humbly two housing units in Block 59 and chairs the students
provided themselves.
On August 26 of the same year, Lagro Annex was transferred to the Lagro Elementary
School compound and occupied the sawali-walled makeshift building. The high school
was then headed by Mr. Crispulo A. Pilar with Mr. Narciso M. Caingat, Mrs. Nilfa C.
Caingat and Mrs. Greta Manlapig as pioneer teachers.
Two years after, the enrolment rose to 249 from the former 87 with three sections in first
year, two in second year, and one in third year. They were all managed to stay in just
four classrooms guided by nine teachers of Lagro. .
The first graduation from this high school happened two years after with an increased
enrolment of 461 with Mrs. Josefa Q. Maglipon, head of the Home Economics
Department in Novaliches High School, who replaced Mr. Pilar(who left for the United
States)
HISTORYOF LAGRO HIGH SCHOOL

The School Year 1977-1978 reached 774 with 15 sections occupying seven
classrooms. With this problem on accommodation, Mr. Florencio Dumlao appealed to
the national government for a Lagro Annex Building. Through the unrelenting efforts of
the department head-in-charge and with the PTA lobbying behind, the 1.3 hectare
present school site, and building became a reality.
At the opening of classes on June 11, 1978, 923 students flocked the newly constructed
building which was a two-story 18-room structure standing proudly with Mrs. Maglipon
as head of the school. She was replaced with Mr. SilverioReinoso. Mr. Reinoso had to
continue with the challenge to manage 19 sections of students with just 32 teachers. It
is really a challenge but he overcome with it.
It was the significant day of September 1, 1978 that Lagro High School was inaugurated
by Mrs. Commemoracion M. Concepcion, the former schools division superintendent.
Thus, it has become its foundation day.
Hand in hand with the influx of residents in Lagro Subdivision is the continuous increase
of student population. And to accommodate this increasing population, a six-room
building on the southern site of the campus was constructed. The school then also
improved with the completion of concrete fences surrounding the campus, construction
of the stage and the new steel flagpole, all to house and educate the community for
them to have a better education.
Mr. Reinoso was replaced by Mrs. Virginia H. Cerrudo on September of 1981.
Mrs. Cerrudo was replaced with Ms. Felicidad C. Gutierrez in 1987 bringing another
building funded by the city government. The same year created the Lagro High School-

Payatas Annex with 257 students. This annex was assigned to Mrs. Sheridan
Evangelista, who was then the Social Studies Department Head of the main school
Promoted as Principal IV, Ms. Gutierres was transferred to E. Rodriguez Jr. High
School. Mr. William S. Barcena took her place as the principal of Lagro High School on
June 1991
Three years after, Mr. Barcena was replaced by Mrs. Cristina C. Monis, the General
Education Supervisor I-English, as Officer-In-Charge on January 8, 1993.
Mr. Gil T. Magbanua replaced Mrs. Monis on June 13, 1993 To accommodate the
continuous increasing enrollees, the three-story building funded by the Quezon City
Government was constructed. The third Annex in Fairview was finally opened with Mrs.
Justina A. Farolan as the Teacher-In-Charge.
Dr. Consolacion C. Montano replaced Dr. Gil Magbanua later on with more
improvements.
Mrs. Sheridan Evangelista made her comeback as the principal of Lagro High School in
1998 with improved facilities and technology advancements for the school.
The dawn of more improvements was realized when Dr. Fernando C. Javier became
the principal in April 2003. The construction of the new building previously applied by
Mrs. Sheridan Evangelista was built and inaugurated by the successor, Dr. Javier. The
SB Building and the full renovation of the formerly called Social Hall was transformed
into a multi-purpose conference room conveniently equipped with multimedia projectors
and modern sound technology now being utilized for events, seminars, workshops by
the whole division. The construction of the new gate, renovations of all facilities and the

covered court; Lagro High School now boasts of not only its talents but its conducive
learning ambience sure to provide every learner more motivation to pursue his dreams.
Lagro High School reaped achievements in the district, division, regional and national
competition under Dr. Javier. The Bureau of Alternative Learning System was
established and soon after the Open High School. The Special Education Program was
established accepting deaf and blind students. The Guidance Program was also
enhanced and improved with the administration of Dr. Javier. International competitions,
speech and debate contests sponsored by the government and private companies,
PalarongPambansa, National Schools Press Conference and the creation of the Special
Program in the Arts which annually showcases talents in its culminating activities
Today, as we speak, Lagro High School does not only have a growing number of
enrollees but also consistently develops as a community that consists of highly
competitive and productive members under the supervision of the new principal Dr.
Maria Noemi Moncada.

productive member of the society is the main focus of education. For this reason,
LagroHigh School believes that every Filipino High School age youth must be given the
right to quality instruction in a compassionate and caring environment.

2. Review: provided with the words in the black board, the students should identify the meaning of the
following medical condition that should not be massage.
Contraindication - condition or factor that serves as a reason to withhold a certain medical treatment.
Sprains - an injury to the ligaments around a joint.
Dislocations - joint injuries that force the ends of your bones out of position.
Rheumatoid Arthritis - systemic inflammatory disorder that primarily affects joints.

3. Motivation:
Video Presentation
The teacher will present a video presentation of Foot Massage. The students should attentively watch the
video because afterwards, the teacher will ask about the procedures in foot massage.

Foot - anatomical structure found in many vertebrates.
Massage - involves working and acting on the body with pressure.
Reflexology - is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or
ears.

Massage is considered a complementary and alternative medicine used by millions to relieve pain, reduce
stress and anxiety, rehabilitate injuries and boost general health. The practice of foot reflexology massage
involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet in order to affect various parts of the body.

Steps of Foot Massage
1. Spread the legs, cover one foot with a cloth and work on the other.
2. Knock the limbs and calf. Roll the foot with your hands for 10 times
3. Lather cream/oil on foot and calf.
4. Use the figure of eight to massage for 10 times.
5. Apply the strength of 2 thumbs to massage middle of foot to heel.
6. Massage back of toe with knuckle for head, neck and sinus.
