Let me show you why Bournemouth is my home from home

Hello I’m Gigi, currently studying MSc Retail Management & Marketing at Bournemouth University. I’d like to show you some of my favourite places in Bournemouth and places that remind me of being back home in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Bournemouth is different from other urban areas. I can spend leisure time at the beach in a T-shirt and shorts walking barefoot in the sand. For me, it is exactly happiness and inner peace.

Pho is one of the most famous Vietnamese traditional dishes. It reminds me of Vietnam with its special herbs and unique flavours. Eat Pho is a popular choice for Vietnamese students whenever they want to eat something that tastes of home.

Vietnam is very famous for having many miles of sandy beaches. We often have picnics there at the weekends with friends or family. It is wonderful staying in Bournemouth and seeing the beach every day. It makes me feel relaxed, with open spaces that remind me of home.

Milk tea is very well known and sold widely in Vietnam. Going to a milk tea shop is a part of the culture of Vietnamese youngsters. They spend hours with friends chatting and refreshing after school. While being a student in England, having milk tea with friends and talking about lessons after classes remind me of being back home and student life in Vietnam.

Bournemouth is situated in a gorgeous natural region with miles of clean sandy beaches – the leafy and peaceful New Forest is just a quick train ride away too.
