On 14th of October ,we celebrate St. Petka ( the patroness of the town of Troyan). St. Petka protects the women, young mothers ,the homes and fruitfulness .

According to the folk calendar the days after St. Petka and St. Dimitar are connected with the end of summer and active farming. The gardens in our town are full with fruit and vegetables

On that day the women make a ritual bread ( pitka). On the top of the bread they put figures of domestic animals, a cross (connected with the Saint), fruit. After baking it they cover it with honey to protect the people from bad illnesses.
