• PSI\T has a network of 245 clinics located in 13 regions of Tanzania • The clinics are supervised by 11 QA Coordinators

• Paper-based checklists were used to give QA scores to providers, and were collected on a monthly basis

• This reporting system faced a number of challenges including- Late reporting due to geographic challenges- Loss of reports due to transport logistics- Untimely analysis of collected reports- Untimely feedback to the field team for improving performance

Business Problem

What we wanted to do• Have a system that allows us to confirm that

the supervisory visit took place• QA scores being immediately available to give

feedback to the provider and for analysis and actions in HQ level

• No opportunity to skip a step at checklist• Functioning off and online

Solution• Smart phone or a tablet with;

Native application to function off and on line to enter and calculate the QA scores

Ability to capture GPS (works even without mobile network available)

Auto Syncronization with web based system when connection is available

How it works

How it works cont…

System pilot findings• Data from 207 supervisory visits conducted in

6 consecutive months were analyzed• 15% of providers were visited twice• 30% of providers did not receive any

supervision• At large, field QA staff did not adhere to

quarterly supervision call cycle

Importance of the technology• Produces online/real time reports for

management decision making

• Real time data collection enhances team efficiency

• Enhance better monitoring of QA supervisors

• Reduced workload for supervisors

Anya Fedorova
Here I suggest a slide about way forwardSpeak about plotting QA data with performance data and ability of DHIS2 to suggest next visit for this provider based on the two information points. LIke what they do in Kenya for RDT

Challenges– QA supervisors adapting to new technology

– Initial and maintenance cost

– More focus on QA supervisors and providers

Applicability to social franchising• Facility management access of the data enhance better

provider performance monitoring

• Real time data availability enhance accurate QA data reporting both to donors and Ministry Of Health

• The system ensures effective use of franchise management human resource
