The student strength is steadily increasing with about 28 student members in ISM, all are graduate
students. We encourage interested non-ISM students also to take part in our programs. We plan to
enrol more undergraduate students through promotional events through the next Year activities.
Chapter Activities
The ISM SPIE student chapter is managed by student elected by their peers and advised by the faculty
member from ISM. This chapter did work with certain objectives to become one of the largest
branches of active student members in eastern India and therefore making its presence felt at the
national arena.
SCHOOL OUTREACH ACTIVITY PROGRAM
Various optical experiments were displayed for the school children along with the question
and answer session followed by distributing prizes to the enthusiastic children.
There were around 250 students who attended and observed simple experiments based on the
properties of light. All students enjoy optical demonstration. Some students were found to have many
queries about optics. According to the students' queries SPIE members gave good explanation.
