Little League Sports (LLS) is a leading provider of sports based vocational education in the North of England.
We specialise in the delivery of Sports Coaching, Education and Training across the North West of England
and North Wales.
We work in partnership with over 75 Schools, FE Colleges, Premier League and Football League Clubs
delivering NVQ, BTEC and Sports Coaching Qualifications in conjunction with providing outstanding quality
primary age coaching and sports provision.
Through our team of experienced and highly qualified Teachers, FA Coach Educators and coaching staff we
have built an excellent reputation for providing high-quality; reliable services that support Schools, Colleges
and educational establishments to enhance their curriculum for 14-19 year olds by providing education and
qualifications through the medium of coaching and sport. Since 2010 we have qualified over 300 young
coaches providing them with FA, NVQ and BTEC qualifications with many of our students going on to gain
employment at home and abroad
LLS have educated, coached and mentored over 5000 young learners aged 14-19 years through a variety of
National Recognised Qualifications, Awards and Accreditations.

Level 1 Award in Coaching Football
Qualification Overview
Developed in partnership with FA Learning, the education arm of The Football Association (The FA), the
1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Football (QCF) is the first qualification on the football coaching
ladder. The qualification is designed to provide learners with an introduction to the practical and
theoretical aspects of coaching football. The foundation level of knowledge recognised in this
qualification will enable them to develop an understanding of the safe, ethical and effective
management and coaching of football. Those who complete this Award will be able to assist other, more
qualified coaches in delivering football coaching sessions to players of all ages.

Learning Outcomes
Upon achievement of the 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Football (QCF), you are eligible to seek paid
or voluntary employment in appropriate football coaching roles. Opportunities may include coaching in
grass-roots club and school environments. Holders of this Award may wish to gather further evidence to
achieve a Level 1 NVQ Award in Sport and Active Leisure (QCF). In addition, after an appropriate period of
practice as a Level 1 coach, you may choose to follow a programme of training and assessment for the
1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football (QCF).
All qualified coaches are encouraged to become members of The FA Licensed Coaches Club to take
advantage of the available professional and educational services.

The 1st4sport Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership (L2NVQALQ) is an occupational qualification
that provides learners with an opportunity to be assessed over a period of time on both the theoretical

The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Preparations for Coaching Sport (QCF) is awarded
by 1st4sport Qualifications and has been developed in partnership with industry experts in the area of
coaching sport and SkillsActive – the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning.
The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Preparations for Coaching Sport (QCF) is regulated
at Level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and forms part of all UK Coaching Certificate
(UKCC) endorsed coaching qualifications at Level 2.

Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime
Qualification Overview
From the coach’s perspective, children and young people from any background can display patterns of
behaviour which are disruptive to others and difficult to manage. As identified in the recent Centre for
Social Justice’s Sport Working Group’s report ‘More than a game’(PDF), welfare programmes that seek to
use sport as a means of improving individuals’ life chances requires a different skill-set to the coaching of
sport for its own sake.
Developed in partnership with the Active Communities Network and the Laureus Sport for Good
Foundation, the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime (QCF) provides learners,
aged 16 years of age and above, with an opportunity to develop both the practical and theoretical
aspects of the principles of using sport to tackle crime.
It offers learners an introduction to and an opportunity to promote their knowledge and understanding
of:
developing and maintaining local partnerships to challenge youth crime and anti-social
behaviour
implementing sport interventions to challenge youth crime and anti-social behaviour
how to engage with participants using sport interventions to challenge youth crime and anti-
social behaviour.

School Sport
Qualification Overview
This qualification is equivalent to Level 3 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
Developed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education (afPE), the Level 2 Certificate in
Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport aims to provide learners with an introduction
to a number of roles through an engagement with physical education and school sport (PESS), including
teaching, activity leadership and coaching for young people. The qualification provides learners with
guidance on further opportunities, including how to contribute to PESS programmes as a sports leader,
coach and teaching assistant. While this qualification is delivered through the medium of PESS, the skills
may be used by learners in working in other sporting environments, under appropriate guidance.

Qualification Overview
This qualification is equivalent to Level 3 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)*.
Developed in partnership with sports coach UK and other experts within the sector, the 1st4sport Level 2
Award in Multi-Skills Development in Sport (QCF) provides learners aged 17 and over with an
introduction to the processes and principles of supporting child development through multi-skills.
Who is the Qualification for?
The qualification is suitable for:
sport-specific coaches who wish to specialise in coaching children and young people
sports coaches who work or aspire to work in schools
coaches who work predominantly with children
coaches employed through funded-initiatives, such as ‘Football in the Community’
coaches employed/deployed through local authorities’ sports development departments
students at both universities and colleges looking to develop their existing coaching skills with
children
adults involved in the delivery of sport and physical activity in primary and/or secondary
education that meet the appropriate pre-requisite criteria.

Level 2 Award in Leadership through Football
Qualification Overview
This qualification is equivalent to Level 3 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
Developed in partnership with FA Learning, the education arm of The Football Association, the 1st4sport
Level 2 Award in Leadership through Football (QCF) (L2ALTF) is a brand-new and exciting qualification
that will enable young people to develop leadership, personal and thinking skills through supporting the
development of grass-roots football.
This unique qualification is a conduit for learners to develop a range of skills as independent enquirers,
team workers, self-managers, creative thinkers and effective participators. These skills are developed
through an engagement with The FA’s grass-roots football development programmes.
Learners will be introduced to a number of leadership roles, including:
leading football activity sessions
refereeing small-sided games
managing a local small-sided game team
contributing to the organisation and delivery of a local football festival/event for young people.
Holders of this Award will be provided with guidance on further opportunities as a sport leader, including
how to contribute to grass-roots sport as an administrator, coach, referee, team manager and sport
development volunteer.

This qualification is equivalent to Level 4 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)*.
The 1st4sport Level 3 Award in the Principles of Coaching Sport provides your learners, aged 16 years and
over, with the knowledge needed to develop their confidence and start them on the road to an
engagement with coaching sport. Utilising the new QCF common-knowledge units for coaching, learners
gain the required generic knowledge that all sports coaches need to plan, conduct and evaluate safe and
effective coaching programmes in sport. This includes:
the principles of safe and equitable coaching practice
the fundamentals of coaching programmes
the principles of planning coaching programmes
how to support participants’ lifestyles through coaching programmes.
The qualification also provides the foundation for all Level 3 UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) sport-specific
coaching programmes.

Sport
Qualification Overview
This qualification is equivalent to Level 3 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)*.
Developed in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in
Coaching Strength and Conditioning for Sport (QCF) is designed to provide learners aged 16 and over
with the level of knowledge needed to build and lead well-constructed strength and conditioning
programmes through an understanding of how to plan, conduct and evaluate strength and conditioning
sessions. This will enable successful learners to seek employment as strength and conditioning coach in a
number of settings such as a sports club, or with an athlete or team in an educational/youth
environment.
The qualification is also excellent continuous professional development (CPD) for exercise and fitness
industry professionals via The Register of Exercise Professionals1 (REPs) – an ideal way to improve and
broaden their skill set.

BTEC Subsidiary
Qualification Overview
The Subsidiary Diploma in Sport is a specialist work-related Diploma that covers key knowledge and
practical skills required within the Sports Industry. The Diploma gives opportunities for Students to
achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally specific qualification in Sport, allowing for the
opportunity to enter employment in the sport and leisure sector. The Diploma offers greater flexibility
and a choice of emphasis through optional units which offer an engaging programme for those who are
clear about the area of employment they wish to enter within the Sports Industry. It is broadly equivalent
to one A-Level.
The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport, is a 60-credit and 360-guided-learning-hour (GLH)
qualification that consists of three mandatory units plus one mandatory specialist unit plus optional units
that provide for a combined total of 60 credits.
