With regard to the Great Earthquake
in Japan as well as its consequence
of nuclear crisis, the reconstruction
work becomes the talk of the world.
And, considering HK’s friendly rela-
tionship with Japan, we gradually feel
an urgent to help, not once-for-all, but
in long term.
Smile Project / スマイル計画 / 微笑計劃 is a cooperation between the
Academy of Visual Arts and Japanese
Culture Club. During Oct 25–Dec 23,
charity events and art exhibition will
be held in order to bridge people’s
hearts among different countires.
Through the project, we hope to bring
love and also financial assistance to
Japan. So, we greatly need your sup-
port in this new-born project.

Kamon, a circle pattern, was tradition-
ally used by Japanese to represent
their family. They always use nature
as their inspiration in kamon deisgn.
Now, many parties use kamon as a
symbol of togetherness.
In this project, we use kamon as an in-
spiration. By inviting people to design
love kamon and sending their kamon
to Japan, their love and care will be
transformed into visual languages
which can be understood by every-
one in the world.
The logo of this project is inspired
by Sakura. Designer uses 3 petals to
resemble the red dot in the flag of Ja-
pan and also to form a smile at the
centre so as to represent the aim of
the project.

The patterns on the poster
are collected from part of
the participants from this
project. By doing this, out-
comes from the project can
be shown and more partici-
pants could be attracted to
join the project.
Participants can design
their own pattern on the
postcard to send their care
to Japan. Also, informa-
tion of this project is also
printed on so that promo-
tion can be held beyond
borders.
