Call your Local Diggers Hotline/One Call beforedigging.

Measure:

The areawall should extendbeyond the window roughopening by approximately 3”each side for a mount-to-foundation installation.

The top of the areawall shouldextend a minimum of 2” above theestablished grade line and down atleast 12” below the windowsill.Position the areawall to allowsufficient drainage away from thefoundation with your desiredfinished grade level.

Mounting:

Flanges should be attached to the foundation wall at 12” centersminimum to assure structural stability. Use sleeve or wedgetype anchors appropriate for your foundation construction.Anchors are not provided.

Connect window wells into the foundation drainage system ifavailable.

Backfilling:

Place fill evenly around the areawall in 12” layers using non-mechanical compaction to ensure areawall profile does notbecome distorted. Add washed stone in the base of thewindow well for drainage and structural support.

Compacted fill around the outside of the areawall should be atleast 12” or one-half of areawall projection. Select backfillmaterial should be used that is free of large rock, soil clods,frozen material or other active soils. Avoid use of heavyconstruction equipment near window wells afterbackfilling.
