The Educational Planning and Research Division publishes the Quick Facts annually to provide the latest education statistics in Malaysia. The accurate and policy-relevant statistics contained in this publication is pertinent for planning educational programmes to enhance the quality of education in the country.
Quick Facts 2012 provides basic demographic information on Malaysia, enrolment data for all levels of education, information on schools, teachers, public examinations, tertiary education, private education and educational expenditure. It also presents selected economic and education indicators, as well as World Education Indicators for comparative analysis. I hope that the education statistics presented in Quick Facts 2012 will be beneficial to all decision makers, policy planners, analysts, ministry officials and researchers.
I believe one method of disseminating vital information pertaining to the education system to various institutions and agencies is through statistical publications such as the Quick Facts. The Educational Planning and Research Division will continue to collaborate with other agencies to disseminate comprehensive information on education statistics to various interested parties. On behalf of the Educational Planning and Research Division, I would like to thank all divisions in the Ministry of Education and other government agencies for their cooperation and commitment in providing the data for this publication.
