Spatial technology has proven to be of use in industry to identify insect pest problems and as a predictive tool in anticipating issues based on a combination of criteria.
A number of presentations on GIS have been delivered at SPNHC over the past 5-6 years or so, but I could not find anything in the literature indicating a success story.
Having pilotted a GIS system myself, I think the reason for this is due to the specialised nature and complexity of the software. This limits accessibility to the data.
