Annual Naperville Central High School Marching Classic! On behalf of the Fine Arts Music
Department, our Band Booster Association and Naperville Central High School, we would like to thank you for your
participation on this day. We hope that you find our contest a rewarding and viable resource for the development of
your band program.
Attached, you will find detailed logistic information:
Location
Please note that we have moved our contest back home to Naperville Central High School (440 Aurora Ave.,
Naperville, IL 60540).

Bus and Equipment Vehicle Parking [IMPORTANT]
Bus and vehicle parking will be a little interesting as we work to get everyone in and out of our parking lots over the
course of the day.
Buses will be parked along Hillside Road. (Please note that Hillside Road will be closed down for the duration of our
event.) Buses will be parked with curbside exit from the doors, so please be advised on the specific entrance to
Hillside Road for your band.

Bus Parking Group A: The following school busses will enter Hillside from Washington Street:

Spectator Parking
Spectator parking is located on the EAST side of NCHS Memorial Stadium. Spectator parking is accessible from
Porter Ave. and Washington St.

Overflow parking will be available within the neighborhood and/or Downtown Naperville parking garages
(Municipal Center or Water Street Parking Facilities).
NOTE: Hillside Road will be closed to thru traffic during our event.
Group Wristbands
Each group will receive wristbands for their students based on the number listed within your registration
information. In addition, you will receive 20 wristbands for support staff. Please deliver these to your
INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF members first then adult volunteers. There will be no charge and no need for wristbands
for parent/chaperone “roadies” to help the band on and off the field, however, they will be responsible for purchasing
admission to re-enter the stadium after your band’s performance. Each Band will also receive (2) VIP “Director”
Badges.
Seating
All band members and staff with performance wristbands must sit on the Visitor-side bleachers. Wheelchair
accessibility and seating is available on the Home-side.
Concessions & Food Trucks
General concessions are available in addition to (4) Naperville/Chicago Food Truck vendors onsite, including:

● Bricks Wood-Fired Pizza
● John’s Rib House
● Sno Problems (Premium Shaved Ice Desserts)
Marching Classic T-Shirts and Spirit Wear
A large selection of customizable Marching Classic spirit wear as well as buttons and letter jacket patches will be
available for purchase. Cash and credit card accepted.

Marching Classic Field Show Performance Schedule
Midwest Percussion Cooperative (MPC) Marching Percussion Standstill Schedule
Warm Up
Your guide will meet you at your busses approximately 15 minutes before your scheduled warm up time. You will
have 45 minutes to warm up (15-Visual, 30-Music). Visual Warm Up will take place in area C on the field. Music
Warm Ups will be scheduled in areas A and B on the field. Please note your warm up field location on the
performance schedule.
Please be sure to face your band away from the stadium to avoid any distractions to the band performing on the field.
Electrical Power Access
Performance Field - Electrical access will be made available on the field. Please have extra extension cords available, if
necessary, for your performance needs.
Front Ensemble Warm Up - There will also be one electrical access point in the Front Ensemble warm up area.
Entrance and Exit of the Performance Field
The front ensemble and props will enter and exit Side 1 Front through the concessions area. This area will be roped
off for access and staging between performances.
The band proper will enter and exit Side 2 Front.

Tabulations and Awards
The Marching Classic will utilize the Bands of America Rules and Adjudication System. Therefore, ensembles will be
adjudicated based on the following captions: Music General Effect (2), Visual General Effect (1), Visual Performance
(Individual & Ensemble), and Music Performance (Individual & Ensemble), as well as caption awards for Percussion,
Auxiliary and Drum Major.
Our first Awards presentation will take place for Class 1A before moving to Class 2A and 3A competition. Our final
Awards presentation will take place immediately following the exhibition performances.
Drum Majors and Captains should report to the Band Entry Gate field (Side 2 front entrance) for the retreat 15
minutes prior to the awards presentation, immediately following the exhibition band’s performance.
Please note: Caption awards will be announced in each class followed by the 3

and 1
st
place winners. The
“Tom and Karen Rogers Grand Champion” award of the day will be announced after all individual classes
have been announced.
Your Director’s Packet with scoring sheets will be available immediately following the awards ceremony and can be
obtained on the track at the 50-yard line at the conclusion of the awards presentations. Please send a representative
to retrieve your sheets before your departure. If you are leaving before the awards, please communicate with us and
we will be happy to send your sheets via pdf and/or US Mail.
All judge’s commentary will be recorded and delivered via Omni Star Events. You will receive an individual email
from Andrew Seibert of Omni Star Events, post-contest, with a link to your Google Drive and your audio feedback.
MPC Percussion Standstill
We are pleased to offer our 9

Marching Percussion Standstill performance after your field show. The standstill
competition is hosted in the NCHS Auditorium by the Midwest Percussion Cooperative (MPC) and scores are
factored separately from the ensemble field show competition. For more information, please see the included letter

Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather, the Marching Classic will delay for 1 hour from its start. If dangerous weather
persists past this hour, the decision will be made whether to continue or cancel. All directors will be notified via
email of this cancellation. This year, we will also utilize the REMIND App.
