Artist Statement

To engage with the works of Aebersold and Handberg i t is important to understand the rea l and the v i r tua l as two co-ex ist ing rea lms, wi th sensory exper ience as a br idge between them. Using l ight and sound to erase the border bet-ween object and archi tecture, subject and surrounding, the two art ists create something ak in to a rea l v i r tua l i ty. Often presented without context these „v i r tua l i t ies“ become plat forms where sol ips ist ic and intersubject ive exper iences merge into something intangib le, inducing a lmost hypnot ic states.

„In our installations we often create environments that resonates with spaces inside of ourselves or which we recognise in others. These environments invoke entirely different emotions even between the two of us and can vary from contemplative

to anxious, euphoric to meditative or sometimes almost numinous.Each installation tries to create its own frame of reference but a recurring topic for us is what comes before or after langua-ge. Where these environments might be seen as a manifestation of an emotion or inner space it is also exactly this space

that induces a specific state or emotion onto us.“
