MEMO TO: SENIOR HIGH STUDENTS

RE: MID-TERM EXAM PROCEDURES

1. PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED FOR CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING OF

MIDTERM EXAMS Midterm exams for Level 1 to 3 students will run from Monday, January 25

th to Friday, January 29

th

inclusive. The morning exam session will begin at 8:45 AM and the afternoon session will begin at

12:00 PM. The Junior High students will have regular classes during this period. If the school is closed

for a FULL DAY, the exams missed will go ahead the next day on the exam schedule. (Ex: a

Wednesday school closure means that those exams will be written on Thursday). A HALF-DAY

closure will cause the missed exams to be moved to the end of the exam schedule.

2. Students will remain in the exam room for 1 hour and 15 minutes from the start of the

exam.

3. Students are free to leave when exams are finished if they have transportation. A note is

required from parents/guardians if you have transportation arranged with someone else. This has to be

indicated on the note.

4. If students choose to stay in school you must either:

i) Remain in the exam room for independent study.

ii) Remain in the old cafeteria area (no one is to be in the corridor). The Junior High & Senior

High sections of the building are off limits during exam times.

iii) Those not in the exam room, are expected to be in the Café until SCHEDULED RECESS

TIME - 10:48-11:03, OR LUNCH TIME - 1:01-1:41.

iv) Bathrooms. When in the gymnasium students will use the guidance bathroom, and when

students are in the café they will use the staff washrooms.

5. Duration of Exams a. Mid-term Exams are 2 hours in duration. (Students are permitted 10 minutes extra for each

hour to a maximum of 2 hours and 20 minutes).

b. Unit tests are 1 hour in duration.(Students must remain in the gym for 1 hour and 15 minutes)

6. Book Bags All book bags, books, etc. must be left at the back of the gym.

7. Electronics: All electronic communication devices are to be checked in upon entering the exam room, or left

home. (If students are seen with electronics during an exam, the exam will be taken from the

student and the student will be removed from the exam room and sent to the Main Office.)

Students are encouraged to develop a study schedule and start your study early, to

attend tutorials, and to avail of any help from your subject teacher. Good Luck
