The Maya Trade was centered primarily around foods like: corn, fish, squash, potatoes, honey, beans, turkey, fruits and chocolate drinks.

They also traded materials, such as limestone, marble, jade, wood, copper and gold.

They also traded goods such as paper, books, furniture, jewelry, clothing, toys, weapons, and luxury goods.

WHERE THE MAYA TRADED Trade routes went as far south as Guatemala and Belize.Trade also extended to the Caribbean Islands.

TRANSPORTED THEIR GOODS

Human caravans carried the trading goods. The Mayans did not use animals or wheeled vehicles to move goods. The Mayans also used large seagoing canoes.

PROOF THAT THE MAYANS DID TRADE

Artifacts show that hard stones and many other goods were moved quite far. Chemical tests have taken these artifacts and confirmed that they came from

locations far away. No, but we could go to McDonald’s.
