It is a Shooting star and is also known as a falling star

It is ike a fire ball 38,000 meteorites have hit earth They hit in the North and South pole a lot

Hit the grand canyon Its size was 30 metres It weighed 100,000 tons Its speed was 20 km per second

If a Meteorite hit the land it could cause

Dust-Cut off sunlight for Months Make a crack in the earth Lower the temperature of the whole world Cause an earthquake Cut out power

When a meteorite hits an asteroid in the asteroid belt it will speed towards a planet

As it breaks through the atmosphere it is set on fire Meteorites try to hit earth They may break up and become a meteor shower Otherwise it is sent back and becomes space junk
