Mhairi McGregor RSW, studied at the Glasgow School of Art, later travelling widely through

Europe, Australia and America. She has always returned to Scotland, where she finds constant

inspiration in her native country. These recent paintings reflect the artist's interest in the line and

colour of beach huts, piers, lighthouses and the landmarks which punctuate the seascapes of her native Scotland and the Norfolk and Yorkshire coasts.

In this new body of work McGregor takes a particular interest in the linear nature and colours of

traditional farm buildings, effecting the contrasting visual textures and tones of these structures and the surrounding landscape with a distinctive rich, fluid impasto paint surface.
