NEW DELHI, Sept 10:

The fast bowling duo of UmeshYadav and Mohammed Shamitoday returned to a 16-memberIndia squad for the first three gamesof the five-match ODI seriesagainst Australia.

The selectors have chosen torest leading spinnersRavichandran Ashwin andRavindra Jadeja, as per the BCCI'srotation policy, for the first threegames of the series, startingSeptember 17 in Chennai.

The only change in the ViratKohli-led squad was the omissionof pacer Shardul Thakur. Yadav andShami, who were rested after theSri Lanka Test series, have beenrecalled after a break.

India have named a 16-membersquad instead of 15 for the firstthree games. Mumbai pacer Thakurwill now go back to India A seriesfor New Zealand.

Selection committee chairmanMSK Prasad said players such asYuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patelhave been given an extended rundue to their impressive showingson the tour of Sri Lanka, whereIndia won all their matches.

"The team for the three ODIsagainst Australia has been selected

in line with the rotation policy ofthe Board and accordingly RAshwin and Ravindra Jadeja havebeen rested," Prasad said.

The former India stumperadded, "The team's performanceduring the Sri Lanka tour was out-standing and players like Axar Pateland Yuzvendra Chahal, who per-formed very well are being givenan extended run and this will in turnsupplement our approach, to build astrong reserve strength, as we pre-pare for forthcoming tours."

Ashwin is playing county crick-et in England while left- arm spin-ner Jadeja has been rested since theTest series in Sri Lanka last month.As per his four-match contract,Ashwin has two more home gamesleft for Worcestershire.

As expected there were notmuch changes from the squad thatthrashed Sri Lanka in the ODIseries recently.

The Ladakh annual megasport event organized by a localtour operators Rimo Expeditionwith the support of J&KTourism, Hill DevelopmentCouncil and Bisleri, recognizedby Association of InternationalMarathon and Distant Races(AIMS). The two days eventwitnesses great success withparticipants enthusiastically par-ticipating in four different cate-gories Khardungla Challenge(71.2 km, Full Marathon (41.1km), Half Marathon (21.1 km)and 7 km Run for Fun. Leg spinner Karn Sharmaended with a career-best 10-wicket haul to lead India Red to a170-run win over India Greendespite a valiant hundred fromKarun Nair on day four of theDuleep Trophy here.

India Green, resuming theday at 98 for two and chasing animprobable 474-run target, weredismissed for 303 in their secondinnings with Sharma taking sixfor 94 to take his match tally to10 for 133, his best figures in firstclass cricket.

The remaining four wicketsin the Indian Green innings weretaken by pacer Siddarth Kaul.

The impressive bowling per-formance from India Red came aday after captain Dinesh Karthik

and Priyank Kirit Panchalslammed centuries to put theirteam in a strong position.

India Red declared their sec-ond innings at 307 for two yester-day. They had made 323 in theirfirst innings before India Greenresponded with a paltry 157.

On the fourth and final day,India Green did put up a muchimproved showing with the batbut it was not enough to get evenclose to the victory target.

Nair was their stand out bats-man with 120 off 203 balls buthis dismissal ended India Green'sresistance.

The Karnataka batsman, whodid not have the best of timesduring the recent India A tour ofSouth Africa, was dogged in hisapproach.

His gritty knock, comprising13 fours, eventually ended in the81st over, leaving India Green at275 for six. What followed was alower-order collapse with IndiaGreen losing their last five wick-ets for just 28 runs.(PTI)

In the first match playedtoday, YWCC defeated SurinderCricket Club by 5 wickets. SCC

scored 138 runs in 20 overs,with Suman and Deepak con-tributing 54 and 21 runs respec-tively. Rahul took 3 wikets,while Ayush and Akash claimed2 wickets for YWCC.

In reply, YWCC chased thetarget in 19.2 overs, with Ayush,Vishu and Rahul scoring 42, 35and 23 runs to the total respec-tively. Provin and Rajeshclaimed one wicket each. Ayush
