‘Ma'am how did you learn the language....’
This has become my catch phrase. My students
quite often pose this question. Then, the story
unfolds on how, why and when I pursued
learning the foreign language-French and its
importance as well as necessity in today's fast
paced and technologically advanced world
which looks like a global village.
This, always makes me contemplate that each
one of us should know at least one foreign
language. Yes, no doubt India is a country
having various languages and dialects and
could be said that if we don't know a foreign
language, still we can move ahead with our
lives. Language is a key part of any family,
community, culture and the human race.
Without language the world today would have
been much different and surely not as
interesting as it is now.
The ability to speak, read, write and understand
more than one language is also remarkable and
expands the liberties in life.
Studying a foreign language builds more skills
than just language. Memorization, critical
thinking and interpretation skills improve
immensely in the students and also improves
the academic performance. Globalization has
offered new challenges to us. The whole world
looks like a small ball where students who
speak foreign languages have more chances of
finding a job whether at home or abroad and
adapt to new work places without much stress.
It enriches their mind opens up new horizons
for them both personally and professionally.
Learning a new language is not only interesting
but also increases one’s knowledge about the
culture and of the people of that specific
country. It also helps to make a career in the
field of translation and interpretation. Due to
growing economic relations between India and
various countries of the world, there has been a
greater need for interpreters, translators and
teachers. Language impacts the daily lives of
members of any race, creed, and region of the
world. Language helps express our feelings,
desires, and queries to the world around us.
Words, gestures and tone are utilized in union to
portray a broad spectrum of emotion. The unique
and diverse methods human beings can use to
communicate through written and spoken
language is a large part of what allows to harness
our innate ability to form lasting bonds with one
another.
Many companies need language expert for their
business communication, live events, meetings,
and conferences, or documentation in their
essential work. Such companies offer a very high
package to translators and interpreters. The world
is becoming a smaller place. As a result,
a translator and interpreter as a career option is a
lucrative as well and interesting avenue in the
field of foreign languages.
India has emerged as the fastest-growing export
market for Africa, South America, Eastern Asian
countries. If you are fluent in a foreign language,
then that could help you land in jobs in many such
Indian and multinational companies in India and
abroad. Job prospect in Export and Import
sector is full of career opportunities.
With the advent of Globalization and
Outsourcing, many BPO and KPO firms offer
excellent career scope for those who know a
foreign language in India. ITES and Outsourcing
has brought a lot of job opportunities paving the
way for learning foreign languages in India.
“If we spoke a different language, we would
perceive a somewhat different world. Because the
limits of my language mean the limits of my
world.”
Language learning allows you to have critical
thinking skills and problem-solving skills when
deciphering a language’s vocabulary, grammar,
sentence structure, meaning, sounds, and
orthography.
Knowledge gives you insights into a different
culture, history, and tradition. You can access
and enjoy different music, arts, movies, sports,
customs as well as contemporary socio-cultural
practices that have developed in different regions
over the millennia. One cannot be genuinely
fluent in any language without somewhat
understanding the culture, history, and customs
of that country.
“One language sets you in a corridor for life.
Two languages open every door along the way.”
Proficiency is a fundamental prerequisite for
successful communication in the ever-growing
tourism industry. It is a crucial component if you
want to pursue your career in hospitality,
Tourism, and Travel Tourism sector.
The ability to learn a foreign language fluently is
an advantage for finding a job in a wide range of
sectors such as Diplomacy, fashion, retailing,
Journalism, automotive, luxury goods,
aeronautics, international business, and the list
continues to grow.
Another reason to learn a foreign language is if
you are looking to move to Non-English
speaking countries such as France, Germany,
Italy, Spain, Japan, etc.
It plays a very critical role if you are seeking a
job in the Embassy and Foreign Services in India
and abroad.
The language proficiency will help you in the
advancement of career and get you that dream
job in various multinational companies and
multilateral organizations it gives you a
competitive edge over others.

their visual skills, cognitive process, aesthetic sense, creativity, and balance

Drawing helps children to think creatively and
develop hand-eye coordination. Colours they use and
the things they draw gives them the freedom to
express their feelings. Therefore we encourage

‘The future of the safety movement is not so much
dependent upon the invention of safety devices as on the
improvement of methods of educating people to the ideal
of caution and safety.’
We, therefore ensure the safety of our students by
educating them about the ideal of caution and safety
through consistent teacher – student interaction,
counseling and peer to peer interaction apart from CCTV
surveillance and active participation of teaching and non-
teaching community.
Grade X students took the initiative in interacting with their juniors and
discussed about cyber bullying and other issues related to cyber security.
Grade VIII students performed role play on clinical depression, road
safety and cyber bullying.
Students of grade IX advertised health and wellness products through Mad
ads in a hilarious manner, thereby reinforcing the concept of healthy body
healthy mind and creating awareness about importance of sound physical
and mental health.

1. What inspired you to write the novel? What
age did you start writing stories?
Ans: I enjoy reading and therefore I have a
membership of a library near my house. As I
started reading many books, I thought to myself
if I could start writing myself. This is how it all
began. Hence, I started writing from the age of
ten.
2. Tell us something about your book. Do you
see yourself as any of the characters in the
story?
Ans: It’s the story of a girl named Alice an
imaginary character who is lost in the forest and
how she escapes from there.
Though I am brave like Alice, I do not see myself
in any of the characters in the novel.

or retain it as a hobby?
Ans: It is certainly my hobby. I write in my free
time. When I grow up, I would like to be a
doctor.
4. How has Cambridge and teachers played a
role in shaping you as an individual you are
today?
Ans: My teachers have trained me to write essays
and short stories. Apart from that, I have been
given a chance to deliver a few speeches during
our assemblies, which has really enhanced my
skill of writing, confidence, and expressing
ability and shaped me into a person I am today.
At this point, I would like to share my experience
of meeting our principal, Ms. Judith Singh, to
give her the first copy of my book. She went
through each and every page of my book
before giving her compliments which was a
delightful and encouraging gesture for me and
my parents.
6. What message would you like to give to the
children of your age?
Ans: “Winners don’t do different things, they do
things differently.” We should always try to be
unique and do the work we have in hand with love
and passion towards it.

1. How did you prepare for yourself for
getting admission in Georgia Institute
of Technology?
Ans: I was interested in Computer
Science from middle school. This
inspired me to take part in a lot of
hackathons and coding competitions. I
also took up some personal projects
and uploaded them on GitHub. I had a
systematically planned preparation
schedule for SAT/ACT exams and
college admission essays. Having a lot
of exposure definitely helped me secure
admission for B.Tech in Computer
Science with specializations in
Intelligence and Security at highly
ranked Georgia Institute of Technology,
USA.
2. What are your hobbies?
Ans: My hobbies include competitive
programming, robotics, and chess. I
