MARKET COMMENTARY
The Sensex fell 146.52 points or 0.4% to settle at 36,373.44. The Sensex rose 227.91 points, or 0.62% at the day's high of 36,747.87 in early trade. The index fell 199.04 points, or 0.55% at the day's low of 36,320.92 in mid-afternoon trade.
The Nifty 50 index fell 27.60 points or 0.25% to sette at 10,980.45. The Nifty rose 68.15 points, or 0.62% at the day's high of 11,076.20 in early trade. The index fell 51.75 points, or 0.47% at the day's low of 10,956.30 in mid -afternoon trade.
Broader market witnessed selling pressure. Among secondary barometers, the BSE Mid-Cap index fell 1.27%. The BSE Small-Cap index fell 0.95%. Both these indices underperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was weak. On BSE, 888 shares rose and 1704 shares fell. A total of 135 shares were unchanged.
Nifty likely to trade in the range of 10810-11170.

Wall Street at five-month highs,
Amazon hits $900 billion market
cap: - The S&P 500 hovered at five-
month highs on Wednesday, with gains
in financial and industrial stocks due to
strong earnings from marquee
companies offsetting losses in the
technology and energy sectors.
Forex - Dollar Hits 6-Month Highs
vs. Yen on Powell Comments: - The
broadly stronger dollar hit six month
highs against the yen on Wednesday as
optimistic comments from the head of
the U.S. Federal Reserve reinforced
expectations that the central bank is on
track to keep gradually raising interest
rates.
Gold Remains Near One-Year Low: -
Gold prices were steady near a one-year
low on Wednesday as a higher dollar
and comments from Federal Reserve
Chair Jerome Powell continued to weigh.
Powell reiterated the central bank should
gradually increase interest rates at his
hearing at Congress on Tuesday. Trade
tensions and fiscal policy made the
future uncertain, he added.
Commodities - WTI Oil Futures
Maintain Losses After Inventory
Data: - West Texas Intermediate oil
remained lower in North American trade
on Wednesday after data showed that oil
supplies in the U.S. registered a surprise
inventory build and U.S. production
reached record levels. But gasoline
inventories registered a much larger-
than-expected draw and distillate
stockpiles unexpectedly declined.
