Dear MHMS Community, Yesterday evening, Mrs. Simpson in collaboration with the MHMS PTA, hosted the 2nd Annual Art Show. I would like to thank Ginny Umrani, our amazing PTA Art Show Chair, for planning this wonderful event. I would also like to acknowledge Mrs. Simpson, our talented dedicated Art teacher, for her work. I am pleased to announce that the 2015-‐2016 Memory Book is now available. This book, created by students highlights the fun events, activities and spirit days that we have had this year. Orders will be made online and will be accepted through May 18th. The Memory Book costs $16. School News and Events: MHMS PTA Seeking Board Members for 2016-‐2017 School Year
The Murray Hill PTA is seeking people in the community to serve on the 2016-‐2017 Executive Board. All positions are open. It is important that we get the support from the community. An active PTA is vital to the partnership with the school. We don't want to lose momentum. Please consider serving in one of the following positions:

PARCC Testing Students in grades 3-‐8 will again take the PARCC tests in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics. Since the assessments will be on-‐line, students in all grade levels will have an opportunity to practice navigating this system prior to the administration of PARCC. If you would like additional information related to the PARCC assessments, I highly encourage you to review the information provided by HCPSS at: http://www.hcpss.org/academics/testing/parcc/

Memory Book Orders
It’s that time! Time to buy a MEMORY BOOK! You can now reserve your copy of the 2015-‐2016 Memory Book. The book has been totally created by students and showcases some of the fun events, activities, and spirit days we have had this year! There are even baby pictures of some of the staff members included! Orders will be made online and will be accepted through May 18th. The Memory Book costs $16.

Updates and Changes to After School At The Hill Program Dates Updates for May: 5/3, 5/4, 5/5 5/9, 5/10, 5/11, 5/12 5/16,5/17, 5/18, 5/19 (11 days with 5/19 being the last day of the program for this year) Murray Hill Middle School BRIDGES FAMILY SURVEY 2016 This survey asks for your thoughts and feelings about the after school program that your child (or a child in your care) attends. There are no right or wrong answers and your child’s participation in the program will not be affected by your responses. Your answers are confidential. 8th Grade End of Year Events Update We are pleased to announce that the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held at Murray Hill on Wednesday, June 15 at 10:00 AM. This event is still being planned and details will be sent out in the near future. In addition, our annual 8th Grade Cruise is scheduled for Monday, June 13. Students will leave from Murray Hill at 10:30 AM. While on board, students will enjoy a lunch buffet and music as they tour the Inner Harbor. We anticipate the price for this trip to be $60. Additional information will be sent out within the next couple of weeks.

Atholton High School Football Youth Camp This is Justin Carey, Head Football Coach at Atholton HS. We are excited about the upcoming 2016-‐17 Season. We are in the hunt for future Raiders. Atholton Football is hosting a Youth Camp on June 20th-‐24th for rising 3rd -‐9th Graders. This is a developmental camp where student-‐athletes will learn the fundamentals of football, combine training, and what it means to be apart of our Raider Program. Atholton High School SPRING DANCE CONCERT The annual spring dance concert is just around the corner! Come out and enjoy amazing dancing and great music. HCPSS News Summer School Catalog
HCPSS presents a number of learning experiences and educational opportunities through summer programs and classes. The 2016 Summer Classes and Camps course information is now available.
University of Maryland Stepping Stones to Your Future (SSTYF) summer camp. This week-‐long coed commuter camp is for rising 7th & 8th graders who are interested in learning more about engineering. Each day is filled with a variety of fun hands-‐on activities and engineering challenges. There are two weeks to choose from: Session 1 July 18-‐22 or Session 2 July 25-‐29. To apply, we require an online form and a teacher recommendation from a current math or science teacher. General InformationMiddle and high school students will participate in activities that will help them relate their owninterests to different career areas while exploringthe Career Academies offered in the high schools.Programs will include classes in Architectural Design, Visual Communication/Graphic Design, Culinary Science, Automotive Technology, Biotechnology, Construction Management and Engineering.

Tuition Reduction and ScholarshipsStudents may apply for either tuition reduction or scholarships. Application forms may be found online at www.hcpss.org/summer/. An initial payment of no more than 50 percent of the course fee is required at the time of registration. Balance owed is pending review by the Scholarship Committee.

Career Academies Summer Programs
June 20-June 24 Computer Graphics and Game Design Entering Grades 7-9 0 Credit Students will create their own prototype for a 3D game level and work on its advertising. Students will create a character concept art using 2D computer illustration software, use 3D graphics to create a game level, design related logos and packaging, explore game levels using a first person character, and 3D print a game object (time permitting). Let’s Get Cooking: Chef’s Institute Entering Grades 7-9 0 Credit Students will hone their knife skills and food preparation techniques while creating dishes to impress family and friends. Vision 2018 Listen and Learn Community Session Parents and community members are invited to join HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose, Board Chairman Christine O’Connor and other Board members to provide feedback on the school system’s strategic plan, Vision 2018. The session was held on Monday, April 11, 6:30–8 p.m., at Oakland Mills High School. If you were unable to attend the session, you may provide feedback by completing the Vision 2018 Feedback Survey. Last Day of School is Friday, June 17
The Maryland State Department of Education has approved our request to waive one inclement weather day for the current academic year. The last day of school for students and teachers will be Friday, June 17, 2016.
High schools will close 3 hours early on June 15. All schools will close three hours early on June 16–17, and no half-‐day pre-‐K or RECC will be held on those two days.
