Sequenced Realised Performance (40 marks)

• Students produce a sequence of a popular music piece using Reason

• Piece decided by exam board• Examples: Colourless Colour (La Roux) 2011, AMTV

(Ladytron) 2012, The Model (Kraftwerk) 2013, Gotta Get The Model (Kraftwerk) 2013, Gotta Get Thru This (Daniel Beddingfield) 2014Thru This (Daniel Beddingfield) 2014

Multitrack recording (40 marks)

• Students will record a piece of their own choice (2-4 mins).

• Recordings must have at least 8 live tracks

• Last years submissions used the school Soul Band

Creative Sequenced Arrangement (40 marks)

• The creative sequenced arrangement will be based on one of two given pieces supplied by Edexcel.

• This year: Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley), Patience (Take That)

• Styles – Blues Rock, Trance

Listening & analysing

• 1 hour 45 minute listening exam• The style of questions will range across multiple choice,

short answer and longer prose• Popular music styles & Music Technology production

techniques will be assessed

• 4 x 10 mark questions

• 2 x 20 mark special focus questions

• Reggae and Heavy Rock

Equipment

• Control Room: Digidesign mixing desk, Pro tools, range of condenser and dynamic mics

• PC suite: Reason 5 & 6, Reaper, Sibelius 6 & 7, Acid Express 9• Range of acoustic, electric guitars and amplifiers
