MVII Magazine 2011 "Woman's" Issue

While reflecting and meditating in celebration of Independence Day 2011, I pondered on the plight of American women as well as my international sisters. I thought about the children who are left behind without a mother. It seems families can adapt to not having a father or proper male influence in the household, but the absence of a mother’s nurturing care appears to have devastating effects.

Women have the ability to encourage, inspire, and instruct others as the Holy Spirit leads and guides them according to His truth; kind of reminds me of how water affects the body. Water influences the operation of our entire body; but is often taken for granted.

I’ve taken notice of women in the gospel entertainment industry—where there is a strong female

presence lifting up His Story and influencing the multitudes (no slight to my brothers who are doing it too). These great women accomplish this by freely giving God all the honor and glory using their many gifts and talents. They avail themselves as living examples on how to present and respond to God’s Word, thereby demonstrating genuine love. With all due respect, it amazes me that in America, the words wisdom and the church are referenced using the pronoun “HER,” which confirms the influence women have on this earth, or at least in the US.

Women have shown themselves valuable to the building of the great nation of the United States. Women in the gospel industry are continuously lifting up praises, whether behind the mic or behind the scenes.
