MY TRIP TO ENGLANDMY TRIP TO ENGLAND

I spent this summer in England, in Winchester. I was an exchange student.

We lived in the University of Winchester. It is situated on a big territory and includes many buildings: a canteen, a residence, buildings for education, a football playing ground, a gymnasium and many others.

This is our residence. It is very comfortable and cozy. We all lived in our own rooms.

It’s our educational group. We made our projects and worked together. Our group consisted of 8 Russians and the others 20 students were Spanish.

It’s our canteen. We had meals 3 times a day. Our food was very tasty.

It is the Winchester cathedral. It’s a cathedral church and one of the biggest cathedrals of Europe. It is situated a 25 minute walk from our University.

Now we are in the Winchester cathedral. Here there are graves of the writer Jane Austen and many other great people and in 2005 the film «The Da Vinci Code» based on the bestselling book by Dan Brown was shot.

And now we are in the castle of Winchester. It has a prominent position in the English history. It was built in 1607 and periodically has been the seat of the royal court.

Now look at the Winchester dweller wearing a national costume of Scotland – a kilt.

It is traditional English food: cream tea. Cream tea is a combination of scones, whipped cream and jam. Cream tea is offered for sale in tea rooms throughout Great Britain (especially in the south-west of England).

Now we are at the railway station with an Englishman. We are returning from Southampton – a shopping centre.

I am in Oxford at the popular telephone box. Oxford is known for one of the oldest in Europe higher educational institutions – University of Oxford. All the leading ratting institutions of Great Britain call this University the best one in the country.

We are in front of Buckingham Palace – the official London residence of the Queen. It was built in the 18th century. Buckingham Palace is famous for Queen’s Guard leaving – traditional ceremony.

We are standing on the bridge over the river Thames, behind us is London Eye – one of the largest observing wheels in the world, located in the London borough of Lamberth on the south bank of the Thames.

This is Trafalgar Square. It is situated in the centre of London. In the right-hand corner there is the statue of admiral Nelson, the total height of the monument is 184 feet.

We are in London near Big Ben – the Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminister also known as the Houses of Parlament. The present Clock came into service in 1859. The clock bell is called Big Ben after Sir Benjamin Hall.

I was so happy to have visited the UK. My dream has realized. It was great.
