Nepal Earthquake Response

A catastrophic earthquake shook Nepal on April 25, 2015 and caused tremors

as far away as China and Pakistan.

It is the country’s

worst disaster in 80 years.

The people of Nepal endured a second 7.3 magnitude earthquake on May 12.

The death toll from these disasters is over 8,000

with over 7,000 additional people injured.

254,112 damaged homes

288,798 destroyed homes

The World Renew Disaster Response Team in Nepal is made up of:

• Staff from World Renew

• Christian Reformed World Missions (CRWM)

• local church partners in Nepal

In the first two weeks of the response, this Disaster Response Team provided food assistance to 1,942 families as well as tarps

to 140 families.

Next Stage of Response

In the next phase that will begin shortly, the plan is to provide additional supplies

to 1,300 families which include…

tents, tarps, blankets, hygiene kits, water filters and

continued food assistance.

Long-term Response

World Renew also hopes to be involved in longer-term programs -- such as home reconstruction, trauma counselling, and

livelihood restoration -- through its partners as funding allows.

As such, World Renew Senior Project Manager Grace Wiebe is in Nepal to help

carry out needs assessment, program design and operational support.

International Relief Managers (IRMs)

Three International Relief Managers are volunteering with

World Renew in the response:

The scale and duration of our response will depend

on the level of financial support received.
