This year we received many applications from worthy students for the Charlie Reynolds Scholarship.
Three strong candidates stood out. The club felt that they demonstrated an outstanding academic and running background, as well as maturity and dedication in both of those areas. In addition the club found their experiences, interests, and goals personify the clubs vision of a college-bound student.
Luke Land, Mikka MacDonald and Emily Ruppel were the clubs choices for this year’s Charlie Reynolds Scholarship. Congratulations and the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Happy New Year, Baltimore Road Runners Club! I hope everyone had a great running year in 2012. It’s time to start thinking about 2013’s races.
You just can’t beat our low key races. We have plenty of distances to choose from. So mark your calendar’s and get ready to have fun.
I’m really excited about the middle distance train-ing program. Tom Nasuta and Jen Zanni have put together a wonderful training program. A lot of time and thought went into the planning of this program
I hope everyone will come out and support this new 10 mile program. Invite a few friends and give it a try.
Everyone have a safe and happy holiday season and a great year of running in 2013.

Middle Distance Training Program
Baltimore Road Runners Club
After running numerous 5K and 10K races, runners often wonder what is necessary to run longer distances suc-cessfully. Join members of the Baltimore Road Runners Club to learn how to expand your range of distance and conquer the 10 mile and possibly the half-marathon distance.
The group will meet twice a week over a 12-week period, beginning December 6th, and learn the secrets of win-ter running. Training will include topics such as developing a race strategy, clothing needs, pacing, hydration, tapering and other secrets from veteran runners that are successful at 5K, 10K and Half marathon distances.
The program will culminate with a 10-mile race where the Baltimore Road Runners Club will pay your entry fee if you run as part of the BRRC Team. The BRRC Middle Distance Training Program is designed to safely guide beginner, intermediate and advanced runners through an organized schedule with the goal of competing in Maryland RRCA Club Championship in February 2013. Under the leadership of experienced coaches, runners will be introduced to tempo runs, hills, speedwork and long runs. There is no cost to this program, but BRRC membership is required.

Baltimore Area Ultra Runner List
The purpose of the Baltimore Area Ultra Runner (BAUR) List is to identify those individuals in the Baltimore Running Community that have completed running events greater than the traditional marathon distance (26.2 miles) and highlight their accomplishments. The BAUR List started in January 2010 and it is similar to a document compiled by the RASAC Running Club in Harford County, Maryland that focuses on members of their club. It is hoped that this list will identify those pioneers of distance running in the Baltimore Area and encourage others to participate in our sport.
Criteria for inclusion into the Baltimore Area Ultra Runner List: 1. You must have finished at least 1 ultra race. This is any organized distance
event greater than 26.2 miles in length. 2. Training runs do not count. 3. You must finish the race. You cannot dropout of a race and still have it count
toward the list. 4. Ranking is by total mileage completed. 5. Time and place in the running events are not considered. 6. Eligibility is not limited to Baltimore Road Runners Club members and
BRRC membership is not required. 7. For purposes of this list, Baltimore refers to the Baltimore Region.
This includes Baltimore City and its surrounding counties. 8. Current residency is not required. (Someone who lived in the region at
one time and has relocated to another part of the country is welcome to maintain their accomplishments on this list.)
If you wish to be included in the Baltimore Area Ultra Runner List or have questions, contact Tom Nasuta @ tnasuta@gmail.com . Please provide the Name, Date and Distance of the events that you have completed. Note: In ultra running events throughout the country every effort is made by race directors to provide an accurate course. However, at times the courses may be a little short or a little long. To be consistent, runners in this ultra list will
receive credit for the distance published by the race director in the official results for the event. (i.e. if a race identifies itself as a 50 Miler, runners will be given credit for 50 miles. )
