Enhancing and preserving individual liberty in the

“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

Wendell Phillips, 1852

Legislative ActivitiesThe NHLA reads, reviews, and rates nearly 1,000 bills each year. Proposed legislation is rated on its liberty impact:

• Is it constitutional?

• Does it expand the size, cost, or power of government?

• What are potential unintended consequences?

With this information, we publish a weekly update called the Gold Standard. This document is distributed to members of the House of Representatives prior to floor votes, and is an invaluable aid in educating legislators whether a given bill is pro- or anti-liberty.

NHLA members are among the most active lobbyists in the New Hampshire legislative process. Working entirely as volunteers and without the influence of special interests, our members represent the people of New Hampshire by offering testimony and position papers at committee meetings and hearings. NHLA presents a principled, liberty-centered perspective.

What is the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance?

As the state’s premier liberty advocacy group, New Hampshire Liberty Alliance is dedicated to preserving your freedoms and improving public policy in the Granite State. NHLA works tirelessly for smaller, more accountable government and to protect civil liberties.

Candidates and ElectionsOur annual Liberty Rating report card ranks state Representatives and Senators based on their votes on key legislation each year. This document serves as a helpful voting guide and a powerful method of holding your elected officials accountable.

NHLA Political Action Committee supports pro-liberty candidates and initiatives with money and volunteers. We offer support to those who work towards greater individual and economic freedom.

Copies of our annual Liberty Rating are available online: nhliberty.org/liberty_rating

Civic ActionThe Civic Action arm of NHLA works to encourage private charity, a civil society, and citizen involvement in the community. Private solutions are more efficient, more effective, and more genuinely caring than those provided by government.

Civic Action efforts include:

• Financial contributions to private charitable organizations

• Donations to community members suffering from tragic accidents, house fires, and legal woes over victimless crimes

• Providing volunteers for Adopt-A-Highway litter removal

We welcome your donations, ideas and energy!
