Merici Chapel… Have you ever given someone a
gift and they didn’t even say, “thank you?” They
didn’t even notice your presence at a party or family
gathering? How does Jesus feel as He waits for you
in Merici Chapel just to see you come and say
“thank you” for the many, many blessings He has
given you? Take time and stop by the chapel.
Psalm 34 Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Oh, taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Penitential Act B Have mercy on us, O Lord.
For we have sinned against you.
Show us, O Lord, your mercy.
And grant us your salvation.
May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins, and brings us to everlasting life.
Amen.

Closing #384—Celtic Alleluia: Sending Forth
R.C.I.A. The process whereby an
individual is transformed by the Holy
Trinity into Christ's body, the Church,
and therefore, is Catholic. If you are or
someone you know is Catholic, but
unconfirmed, or if you or someone you know is not
Catholic but would like to fully accept Christ’s invitation
to “live in my love,” please contact Fr. Ryan Mann here
at the parish or email him at FrRyanMann@gmail.com.
Classes begin September 14th and will continue on
Mondays through Easter until Pentecost.
St. Charles Borromeo Church August 9, 2015
Every year, each parish in our diocese is
asked to host a missionary for one weekend. That
missionary tells us of their mission work and then
asks us for our prayers and for our financial support. This year
I asked the Mission Office to send us a representative from the
Evangelizing Sisters of Mary. That is the community we
welcomed to Cleveland last summer. The generosity and labor
of many St Charles parishioners transformed the old St Adalbert
Rectory, on East 84th and Quincy, into the St Bakhita Convent
for the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary, newly arrived from Africa.
The Sisters began work last year at St Adalbert and Our Lady of
Peace Parishes.
This weekend, please welcome Sister Jacinta Kimaro
and please do your best in this weekend’s second collection for
the work of the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary.
Next Saturday, August 15, is the Solemnity of the
Assumption of Mary. As the Solemnity falls on a Saturday there
is no obligation to attend Mass this year. However, for those
who might want to celebrate that day, there will be an 8:00am
Mass on Saturday, August 15, honoring the Assumption of Mary.
St John Bosco Parish, 6480 Pearl Road in Parma
Heights, invites you to their 11th Annual International Festival
this Thursday, August 13, through Sunday, August 16. You will
find a flyer in this bulletin detailing each Festival Day. I make it
a point to stop by at the neighboring parish festivals; I hope to
see you at St John Bosco later this week.
Know of anyone who wants to join the Catholic Faith?
This year’s Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) will
begin on Monday evenings in September in the John Paul II
Room, second floor, Parish Activities Center. Father Ryan
Mann will coordinate this year’s RCIA process. No commitment
is expected during the first several months. Just “come and
see.” RCIA is for those unbaptized, those baptized in other
Christian faiths, or those baptized Catholic but have not
received the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, or First
Eucharist, or Confirmation. Call Father Ryan for more
information (440-884-3030). And please share this information
with anyone who might be interested.
“Back to School” sales are up-and-running in the
stores. As you prepare for those first days back in class—be it
grade school, high school or college—please use our Gift
Certificate Program for all your “Back to School” needs. We
carry Gift Certificates for all the major suppliers. Stop by the
Parish Office after Mass or on your way to the stores. All
proceeds from our Gift Certificate Program benefit our

Here’s a final reminder about the FEST: it all happens

at 8:00pm and a spectacular fireworks show ends the day. This
is the Eleventh Annual FEST and it is a summer highlight for
many. So get on out there!

Welcome Back to Saint Charles Borromeo Parish School 2015-2016 School Year - Merciful Like the Father
FAMILY FOLDERS: The folders that contain significant information and forms for the opening of the school year will be available for pick up in the school office beginning Monday, August 17 from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM as well as during Curriculum Night. All the information contained in the family folders will also be on the school website and Ascend SMS. Class lists will only be posted on Ascend SMS for grades one through grade eight. This is an additional way that we are keeping kids safe.
CURRICULUM NIGHT: Monday, August 24, 2015 - Grades 1-8 • Grades 7 & 8 – meeting in gym at 6:00 PM followed by classroom visits
until 7:30 PM (grades 7 & 8 get their locker assignments and combination locks on this night)
• Grades 5 & 6 – meeting in gym at 6:30 PM followed by classroom visits until 8:00 PM
• Grades 1 through 4 – from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, families may visit classrooms in twenty minute increments for a presentation by the homeroom teacher
o 7:00-7:20 PM (1st), 7:20-7:40 PM (2nd), and 7:40-8:00 PM (3rd) o Usually the first two sessions are most crowded o Presentation format is in response to parent request for additional
information about curriculum and expectations for year o Due format, there is little time for “visiting” former and current teachers o Respectfully, hallways should be quiet so all can hear the presentations in the classrooms o Any private conferences that are required should be scheduled once the school year has
begun – you and your child deserve such confidentiality and attention o Be sure that your child’s name is on all supplies prior to dropping them off
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: School supply lists are posted on our school website and app. Children’s name should be on all supplies prior to the first day of school. Specific “bookstore” items such as canvas pencil pouches, canvas book bags, laddie pencils, etc. are able to be purchased on Curriculum Night as well as kindergarten staggered entrance day and each morning of the school year in the office. PRESCHOOL: Parents/guardians will receive an August mailing detailing their special schedule for the opening of preschool classes. Preschool will be phased-in during the week of August 31, with parents/guardians joining their children to learn more about the preschool program. KINDERGARTEN: Parents/guardians will receive a letter prior to August 14 detailing a special schedule for the opening of kindergarten classes. We call it “staggered entrance” on August 26 – parents come to school with their kindergarten child for a scheduled time to hear information in a small group setting about the kindergarten year. The first full day of kindergarten will be August 27.
GRADES 1-8: Students are to report for school on Wednesday, August 26 beginning at 7:45 AM. Students should be in their school uniform and report to the designated place for their grade level. Check the Opening of School Information 2015-2016 that is posted on the school website: www.saintcharlesschool.org. ALL STUDENTS MUST PACK A LUNCH THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
