Occupation Timeline(Early Life)
He entered the EIC Service as a cadet in the Madras Engineers at the age of 20.
He was promoted to a low rank commissioned officer of the Madras Engineers in 19th June 1791.
He became a Lieutenant in the Madras Engineers in 16 August 1793.

Farquhar’s Contributions to Singapore Socially
The Rat & Centipede Problem- The Problem: There were many rats
and centipedes on the island.- The Solution: People who killed the
rats and centipedes were rewarded. The Piracy Problem
- The Problem: Many pirates attacked the trading ships.
- The Solution: Gunboats disguised as trading ships were sent to destroy the pirate boats.
