WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Libby Piotrowski and Jeff Hunter
INTROIT Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven Dominic German, Bass Brian Ward, Tenor
* CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 106 Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Who can list the glorious miracles of the Lord? Who can ever praise him enough? Let me share in the prosperity of your chosen ones. Let me praise you with those who are your heritage. Like our ancestors, we have sinned. We have done wrong! We have acted wickedly! The people made a calf at Mount Sinai; they bowed before an image made of gold. They traded their glorious God for a statue of a grass-eating bull.
They forgot God, their savior, who had done such great things in Egypt— that is why the Lord’s anger burned against his people, and he abhorred his own special possession. He handed them over to pagan nations, and they were ruled by those who hated them. Their enemies crushed them and brought them under their cruel power. Even so, he remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his unfailing love.

Today begins week 41 of Heartwalking the Neighborhood: Please be in prayer for the 5500 block of north Spaulding (west side), the 3300 block of west Catalpa, and the 3300 block of west Bryn Mawr.
The rosebud at the front of the sanctuary announces the birth of Miles John Meyer, born to Kristen Engebretson and Jim Meyer on October 5. Owen is excited about his little brother. Blessings on the happy family!
You are invited! As we continue our ongoing conversation of race in America and our call, as followers of the Risen Christ, to learn to be more anti-racist, we invite you the next phase of discussion. Together, we will be reading Rev. Dr. Dennis Edwards’ book Might from the Margins and working our way through the accompanying study guide in small-group Zoom conversations. The book is available on Amazon for $14.25. If you would like to be a part of the group, we encourage you to order the book and begin reading. If you need help in obtaining the book, please let Jeff or Libby know, and we will make sure you get a copy. We will meet via Zoom bi-weekly, beginning Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30 pm. (As we get closer to that date, we will publish both the chapters to be covered and a Zoom link for the meeting.) And, on November 15, Rev. Dr. Edwards will be with us in worship as our guest preacher!
We welcome all people to begin or deepen their relationship with Christ through worship and study. We invite all believers to fully participate in the life and ministry of our church as members, leaders,
and lay staff. We celebrate the gifts and presence of diverse Christians among us—whether those differences be race, ethnicity, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability,
or socioeconomic status. We are blessed by our diversity and are unified in Christ.
