The Origins of Earth Day
• The idea for Earth Day evolved over a period of seven years starting in 1962. It was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson. He thought the Earth should be celebrated once every year, so he flew to Washington D.C to propose his idea to Attorney General Robert Kennedy.

Environmental Rules
• The four rules that government passed were the Environmental Policy Act (1969), the Clean Air Act (1970), the Clean Water Act (1977) and fuel efficiency standards for automobiles.
• These four rules help us clean the earth and prevent it from getting more polluted than what it already is.
