COMPREHENSIVE ORTON-GILLINGHAM TRAINING A complete understanding of IMSE's Orton-Gillingham method and the skills necessary to apply it in the classroom, small group, or one on one. This course focuses on phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. After participating in this training, teachers will be able to assess, evaluate, and teach children how to read, write, and spell proficiently. Appropriate for: K-2 & 3rd grade emergent General Education, Special Education, Title 1 Teachers, ELL Educators
Participants will learn: • How to administer IMSE informal criterion referenced
assessments • Phonological awareness assessment and strategies • Multi-sensory strategies for reading, writing and spelling
phonetic and non-phonetic words • Seven syllable types and 4 syllable patterns for encoding
/ decoding • Explicit, multi-sensory strategies for teaching fluency,
vocabulary, and comprehension • Guidelines for weekly lesson plans

INTERMEDIATE ORTON-GILLINGHAM TRAINING IMSE’s Orton-Gillingham methodology for upper elementary or older students who require foundational reading skills. Encoding/decoding, higher level spelling rules, morphology, and vocabulary. After participating in this training, teachers will be able to assess, evaluate, and teach older children how to read, write, and spell proficiently.
Appropriate for: Grades 3-5 General Education, 3-12 Special Education, Remedial, Tutors, ELL Educators, Speech Language Therapists, Adult Literacy Educators Participants will learn: • Higher level spelling rules • Syllabication patterns for encoding and decoding • Assessment • Morphology- affixes, Latin and Greek bases • Vocabulary • Guidelines for weekly lesson plans
