Our Trip to Newgrange Farm

Senior Infants

7th of June 2011

Ms. Broderick and Ms. Hession enjoying their trip on Farmer Dave’s Tractor

Thumbs up to Farmer Dave who brought us on an exciting adventure around

the farm. We saw Goldilocks yellow house, the Leprechauns castle, the

Tooth fairy’s hill, scarecrows in the field and we got to make a wish at the

‘Magic Tree’.

We got to gently pet the newborn baby chick.

We arrived just in time for the Goats’ lunch...The Farmer gave us the

important job of picking pieces of grass and feeding the Mommy goats and

their kids.

Boy, were those kids hungry!

Next job we were given was to feed the hens. We went into the hen pen with

seeds. The hens were really excited. When we were finished feeding the hens the

farmer asked us to try and catch the hens. Only some people got a hold of

them... they moved very very fast.

It was very hard to hold the hens! We had to try and put our hands over

the wings so the hen wouldn’t get away.

We then paid a visit to the lambs. Everyone got a turn to feed a lamb with

a baby bottle full of milk. The lambs were very happy to see us.

Baaaaa! Thank’s for feeding me.

After helping the farmer feed the animals all morning, we got a chance to

practice our tractor driving skills. Everyone did very well.

The animals had different sheds where they slept in at night. We got to

visit all of these! This is the goats’ shed.

Here is Mommy pig and her piglets which she had two weeks ago. There

were nine of them. They were really cute.....and hungry.

This horse has been on the farm for a very very long time. The farmer

told us that she is 25 years old this year.
