STATE TIMES NEWSKISHTWAR: To ensurevehicles playing on the roadsmeet the standard require-ments for safe driving,Transport Department hasdecided to setup state-of-artInspection and CertificationCentre in Kishtwar besidesgiving special route permitsto new private vehicle own-ers to bring in more vehicleson roads to curb overloadingin the Chenab Valley.

This was stated in a meet-ing here chaired byPrincipal Secretary Animal,Sheep Husbandry, Fisheriesand TransportDepartments, Dr. AsgarHassan Samoon.

The meeting was attendedby Deputy CommissionerKishtwar Angrez SinghRana, Director AnimalHusbandry Dr. Victor Kaul,

Director Sheep HusbandryDr Sanjeev, DirectorFisheries R. NPandita,Director State MotorGarages, Zakir Hussain,Chief Planning Officer YasirBalwan, ARTO KishtwarAbay Sharma and other con-cerned.

During the meeting, Dr.Samoon took exception offrequent accidents on thedistrict roads and directedfor strict enforcement oftraffic rules.

He directed ARTOKishtwar to intensify check-ing on roads and cancel thelicenses of serial offenders.

Dr Samoon also conductedan extensive tour of the dis-trict during which hechecked the crash barrierserected on black spots onBatote-Kishtwar Road withtransport officials and dis-

cussed the ways of prevent-ing incidents in future.

He said that the govern-ment has recently allottedRs 10 crore for strengthen-ing the fleet of buses in thedistrict so that bus driversdon't resort to overloading.

Deputy Commissioner,Angrez Singh Rana assuredthe meeting that two Kanalsof land will be allotted forvehicle inspection and certi-fication centre.

Later, Dr. Samoon visitedVeterinary HospitalKishtwar and inspected lab-oratory of VeterinaryHospital, Poultry HatcheryFarm and cold storage roomhere.

He asked concerned offi-cers to setup livestock entre-preneur units and promotesustainable livestock farm-ing and encourage the entre-

preneurs in the district.He further directed con-

cerned department to estab-lish Liquid Nitrogen Plant inthe veterinary hospital.

He further visited variousprivate local dairy farms andinteracted with locals, farm-ers, youths and heard theirissues and demands.

Dr. Samoon also visitedDulhasti Dam and wasinformed that 40,000 seedswere deposited in the dam toincrease fish production inthe area.

On the occasion, DrSamoon said that Kishtwarhas huge potential for differ-ent fishes particularly troutfishes. He directed forencouraging youth to adoptfish farming on the commer-cial level so that unemployedyouth would get employmentand will cater to local

demand of fish.He also visited Sheep

Breeding Farm Thathri andunder construction site ofPolyclinic at Thatri andasked officials to expeditethe construction so that it iscompleted within the setdeadline.

He asked for setting upnew and strengthening exist-ing laboratories for fisheries,and livestock besides refer-ring vacant sanctioned postsin all departments.

Earlier, PrincipalSecretary during the visit toBatote directed SRTC offi-cials for construction of busyard on allotted sevenKanals of land.

Later, he also visited theShrine of Hazrat Shah Faridud Din (RA) and Shah AsrarUd Din (RA) and paid hisobeisance here.

‘Govt to setup Vehicle Inspection, Certification Centre in Kishtwar’

STATE TIMES NEWSREASI: J&K Khadi andVillage Industries Board(KVIB), Reasi on Saturdayorganised a district levelbanker review awarenessprogramme under Jammuand Kashmir RuralEmployment GenerationProgramme (J&KREGP) atthe District Headquartershere.

The meeting was conduct-ed under the chairmanshipof District DevelopmentCommissioner Reasi, DrSagar Dattatray Doifode.The meeting was conductedto provide awareness tobankers about J&KREGP.

A district-level task forcemeeting regarding theJammu and Kashmir RuralEmployment GenerationProgramme, (J&KREGP)was also held at the occa-sion.

The meeting was as part ofa regular exercise in whichrepresentatives from banksand other stakeholders meetto discuss various aspects ofthe programme.

DDC also discussed vari-ous initiatives to be taken byKVIB as well as by thebanks to generate awarenessabout the programme in the

Sadiq Hussain briefed themeeting that applicant fromrural areas, within 18 and 40years of age, can avail loansunder the programme forsetting up their business. Amaximum of Rs 25 lakh canbe availed under the schemeby any individual. He alsoexpressed the need to con-duct promotional activities atITIs so that more educatedyouth avails the benefits ofthe programme.

The meeting was alsoattended by GeneralManager DIC Reasi, AnilKumar, Cluster Head J&KBank and various bank man-agers of the district.

STATE TIMES NEWSRAJOURI: DistrictDevelopment CommissionerRajouri Mohammad AijazAsad on Saturday held apublic grievance redressalcamp at Peeri in which issuespertaining to common mass-es were raised.

Issues pertaining to roadconnectivity, electricity,water supply, adequate man-power in health and educa-tional institutions, paymentsunder MGNREGA, SBM,creation of rural infrastruc-ture, sanctioning of ambu-lance, coverage under socialwelfare and self-employmentschemes were put forth byvarious public deputations.

Sarpanchs, Panchs andRESIDENTS of Parori,Rehan, Karhad, Dhar,Gakhrote,Tralla and otherareas attended the publicmeeting and apprised theDDC about problems beingfaced by them.

While replying to queriesraised by the public,Assistant CommissionerDevelopment Rajouri AkhterQazi said that he had direct-ed the Block development

officer to clear the pendingdues under MGNREGAwithin one month.

Related to PMAY survey,he said 38,000 new benefici-aries have been enrolled andthe list would be circulatedfor the verification withindays among the Sarpanchsand Panchs.

While assuring the public oftimely redressal of issuesraised by them, the DDCsaid numerous initiatives areunderway to strengthen theroads, PDD and PHE infra-structure in the area besidesensuring the provision ofother amenities of life.

In order to redress theissues of water shortage,DDC directed the XEn PHEto plan projects on watersupply schemes so that theshortage of drinking water inthe area could be solved.

DDC informed that inorder to sensitise farmersabout the latest technologyand about high yielding seedsvariety, the Agriculture andHorticulture Departments incollaboration with other con-cerned will organise a farmerawareness camp in Peerisoon. He also informed that toenrol all the left out beneficiaries

under old age or widow pension,the Department of SocialWelfare Rajouri will organise amega awareness as well asenrollment camp within 10days.

Later, DDC inspected theunder construction girls hosteland directed the concernedagency to expedite work on it forits timely completion.

"Back door employmentwas on rise and the aspira-tions of the unemployedyouth were dashed to theground and promises madeduring elections were all hal-low," Gupta told reporters.

Kamal, while lambastingthe complete failure of BJP-PDP alliance in Jammu andKashmir, said that it wasthe most unfortunate day

when PDP-BJPGovernment was formed inthe State.

Right from the day one, hesaid, NCP opposed theunwanted alliance of boththe parties crowned by anoutsider Ram Madhav.

It was a historical blunderwhich got later exposed. Thealliance intensified theKashmir crises. He said thatthe educated youth who arethe future of India have beenneglected by BJP-PDPGovernment and made tosuffer. No substantial eco-nomic and job package wasframed for their rehabilita-tion, he said.
