Composition Lessons/Seminars• Wolfe used everyday items, like the bicycle wheel in

Flowers, to give added effects to the narrative and message.

• The motif, “Flowers,” is repeated, layered, and echoed through all the choral parts.

• I founder her use of polyrhythms that foreshadowed the shift from simple meter to compound meter really cool!

• The piece goes from having most instruments playing the same parts, to having almost every instrument doing something different, back to being simple again.
