2020 CAJE Investment Drive is officially underway!
It is called an Investment Drive because there is a "return" on
the monetary contribution: a transformed community!
Please prayerfully consider what amount you can personally
invest in this justice work. The Investment Drive is important.
We want to sustain this work for the long haul - and we do
not receive (or solicit) government funds.
Our All Saints Parish goal this year is $22,000.
We have donated $5,100 toward this goal!
Working together, let us surpass our goal like last year!
Donations Made by the Parish in May All Saints Parish is a steward of God’s gifts.
Most “special collections” have been eliminated
as we give a portion of our regular collection
to the following causes:
$425.00 National Catholic Communications
Hearts & Hands in Ministry
It is Ordinary time in our Church Season!

Justice Challenge ~ Pentecost
Pentecost is often called the birthday of the church.
It is a celebration of the day the Holy Spirit came upon
the disciples and believers in the upper room after the
resurrection. Each person was given gifts to use to
share the good news of Jesus. The first disciples,
waited patiently and prepared for the day God would
use them. Your challenge this week is to pray, reflect
on and study something you don’t know about our
faith. It might be learning a Bishop’s document like
Everyday Christianity—To Hunger and Thirst for Justice,
or reading one of the Gospels and making note of the
commentaries, or praying daily for an end to war and
hunger. Prayer leads to readiness. Be prepared for the
work God has in store for you.

Questions of the Week
First Reading
The birth of the Church occurs with the descent
of the Holy Spirit onto the Apostles.
Luke presents this as an experience of unity.
How do you see your faith community promoting
unity of mind and spirit?
Second Reading
Paul speaks to the Christians in Corinth of the gifts
and benefits of the Holy Spirit for believers.
What Spirit-driven gifts do you possess?
Gospel Reading
John tells us how the resurrected Jesus gave the gift
of the Holy Spirit directly to the disciples,
empowering them to forgive sins.
How often do you use the gift of forgiveness?
Our Virus Response Team
At the onset of the crisis and our being shut out
of church, we formed a team of folks who have helped
us build a response to our new circumstances and
work creatively to improve our website and app.
They have been doing weekly Zoom meetings to both
review and strategize on what more we could do.
We thank them for their input and creativity that has
improved our parish’s electronic services
and helped us to maintain that parish bond.
A big shout out to the A-Men’s Club for grilling
hamburgers and to our kitchen volunteers that
cooked sausage burgers at our Community Meal
on May 20th. They served 125 of our neighbors!
Thank You A-Men’s Club and Volunteers!
Daily Mass begins on Tuesdays & Thursdays
After much discussion, we are taking a very measured
approach to our return to Mass. As you have probably
heard repeatedly, our gathering and Mass will look
very different for a time.
If you are considered in the vulnerable group to this
virus, please stay home. We will continue to offer the
recorded Mass via our website, app, Facebook, and
YouTube Channel. If you are retired, in the elder range
of age and want to attend Mass, consider doing your
“Sabbath” during the week.
Beginning June 2, we are going to offer daily Mass on
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 am in the St. Anthony
church. It will be a lot safer for you to attend these
weekday Masses and it will allow others to attend on
Sunday who have work responsibilities.
Thank you to everyone for doing your part to stay
safe!

Family Faith Formation
Share God’s Love
Join Us! Join us online at https:/allsaintsevansville.org/
You will find our current projects by clicking on the
“Youth” tab, then clicking on the “Family Faith
Formation 2020” tab.
Here you will find our work on the Beatitudes through
our posters and video posts.
You will also have an opportunity to see our Faith
Action Figures as they are created and submitted.
Thanks for joining us online as we continue to grow in
our Catholic faith!
You do not have to be a part of our Family Faith
Formation sessions to join us online and see what we
are up to!
I hope everyone is enjoying the puzzles that we have
found to put in the bulletin and online.
Let me, Sharon, know if you would like any additional
resources to use at home…any age!
New Youth Resources on our App
Check out our new Youth button
on All Saints Parish App. Keep up to
date on our youth news and Family
Faith resources. We recently added
our June issues of Growing in Faith and Partners in
Faith for you to read. Check it out!
This weekend we THANK our RCIA Catechists and
Sponsors!
These individuals share God’s love and their personal
journey of faith with the Candidates and Catechumens.
They also join together learning more about the
practice of our Catholic faith and the teaching of the
Catholic Church. This personal relationship helps each
person involved see God present in their life.
…THANK YOU!!!
Happy Pentecost! This weekend, May 30-31, we celebrate the Solemnity
of Pentecost. We remember the story of Jesus
promising an Advocate, the Holy Spirit, and what life
was like when the Spirit moved among the disciples.
Acts 2:1-11 and John 20:19-23
Sequence
Veni, Sancte Spiritus
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!
Come, Father of the poor!
Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine.
You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul’s most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;
In our labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
O most blessed Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of yours,
And our inmost being fill!
Where you are not, we have naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill.
Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away:
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.
On the faithful, who adore
And confess you, evermore
In your sevenfold gift descend;
Give them virtue’s sure reward;
Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end. Amen.
Alleluia.
Consider spending some quiet time in prayer listening
to one of these…

Just wondering….during this pandemic…
anticipating our celebration of Pentecost…
How have we seen the Holy Spirit moving in our lives?
Have we been made aware of God in any new ways?
Have we had time to grow our relationship with God?
How have we spread the Good News of Christ?
How has this time of pandemic grown us in our faith?

We Care Fund Applications
We are happy to report that our
“We Care” appeal has raised $12,609.05.
This is tremendous, and we thank all who
generously gave to this effort.
We now would like to begin the process of disbursing
it. Undoubtedly, there is a lot of need out there right
now, and so we have to prioritize who we can help.
Our first thought was to assist members of our parish
in need. If you or someone you know needs help, you
can fill out a digital application on All Saints website.
Click on the All Saints tab and choose forms. You may
also fill out the application from our Parish App.
Click on the Coping with COVID-19 button and select
“We Care Application.”
Bishop Barron’s Video Series
We recently added Bishop Barron’s
Video Series, Pandemic Faith and
Sacraments, to the Seek button on
our App. We hope you will enjoy them!
The Health Ministry Team would like to invite you
to participate in a Virtual Walking Challenge. This
walking challenge will allow us to increase our
physical activity and feel healthier during this time
of social distancing. You can participate as a team
or as an individual.
The walking challenge is scheduled for Monday,
June 8 to Sunday, July 5, 2020. Please contact the
parish office at (812) 423-5209 if you are interested
in participating in the Virtual Walking Challenge.
More information will come as we prepare for the
Virtual Walking Challenge.
All Saints Women’s Group
Our women’s group connected with a
Zoom meeting on May 18th. We opened
our meeting with prayer and shared ideas on ways
to support our parish community. Some of our ideas
were a Prayer Parade, Meal Train, and delivering small
pots of flowers with a card to our homebound
parishioners. We closed the meeting with prayer
intentions for our friends, family, neighbors, and
loved ones.

Congregations Acting for Justice and Empowerment
An update from Amy DeVries…
Nearly a week has passed since our 2020 Virtual Rally! If you missed it, here's a link to watch it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdgsYPoJj8U
We had nearly 200 households watch our live Facebook premiere and there have been nearly 150 views on
YouTube. Since the Facebook premiere the video has been watched - in its entirety -400 times!
Even though it was a Rally, we did receive some Action commitments from local decision makers!
* County Commissioner Ben Shoulders committed to put the funding ($40,000) for the salary of Aurora's Re-Entry
program case manager into the 2021 budget and advocate to the County Council for its approval.
* EPD Police Chief, Billy Bolin endorsed the best practice we discovered in our Unsafe Neighborhoods research:
the city contracts with the National Network of Safe Communities (NNSC) to have a problem analysis
conducted.
* Mayor Lloyd Winnecke also made a few commitments!
1. The Affordable Housing Trust Fund will remain in the 2020 budget with
little to no reduction of the $500,000 allocation.
2. He is committed to partnering with the NNSC and when funding allows,
put in the line item for $50,000 to have the problem analysis
conducted!
3. He has "some leads" on funding for the addiction and mental health
Crisis Care Center and as soon as the funding is there, the doors will
open for operation.
* Scott Branam, CAO of Deaconess Cross Pointe, committed to convene a meeting of the task force by the
end of the month and called on his mental health colleagues in the community to join him on the task force.
* ECHO Community Health Care agreed to join us in our efforts to expand mental health services in the
community.
While it was an exciting night, we still have our work cut out for us. We will need to follow up with officials and
make sure commitments are kept.
COVID-19 has caused the entire world to make some changes. CAJE has made changes to our organizational
calendar.
Our new Celebration date is Tuesday August 4, 6:30 pm at St. Wendel!
Traditionally, our Celebration is the kick off for our annual Investment Drive.
This year we will be closing it out and celebrating our victories.
I am honored to be your Lead Organizer. I can't imagine doing anything else. I want this work to continue.
So, this year, my husband and I will invest $1,200 back into the work of CAJE. It is called an investment because
the "return" is a saved community! My husband and I are investing because we know two people who are alive
today because CAJE pushed to get all first responders equipped with Narcan. Locally, we have lost count of the
number of rescues!
I ask that you prayerfully reflect on what this work means to you and consider a monetary investment into this
system-changing work!
There are two ways you can invest.
Mail your check (with your congregation name in the memo) to:
CAJE
PO Box 18172
Evansville IN 47719
Or via PayPal on our website: http://ow.ly/HlQx50zHmS1
I have also attached a document that explains how to invest. Feel free to share with members of your
congregation… see next page.
I am honored to "do justice" with each of you!
Peace, Amy DeVries
Mask Sewing
Anchor Industries Needs Volunteers
If you have a sewing machine and some time and are interested in helping your neighbor…
Anchor Industries needs you!
Anchor Industries has mask kits that contain the fabric, elastic and directions for sewing masks.
Kits are picked up at Anchor Industries and completed masks are returned to Anchor Industries.
They also have a limited supply of thread. No specific thread is required.
If you are interested in helping, please contact the Parish Office.
